Gloxinia is an attractive houseplant with tubular flowers. It blooms profusely in the summer, covered with a whole bunch of bright inflorescences, but in winter the upper part dies, leaving only an empty pot. You can create a flower that will never fade and delight its owners all year round using beadwork techniques. There are several bead gloxinia regimens. Consider the option of making a terry bud.
Terry gloxinia from beads: a master class
To create a flower you will need beads in three shades, for example pink, white and green. The bud consists of 3 inner and 4 outer petals. Separately, you need to make stamens. Sepals and foliage are made from green beads. For sepals and inner petals, 0.3 mm thick wire is needed. Work begins with the creation of inner petals.
- On the axial part, dial 18 beads, make 4 arcs on both sides, gaining as many beads as necessary. To make the material easier to type, cut the end of the wire diagonally.
- There will be a white border on the fifth arc. You can do it by collecting 5 white beads and passing the end of the wire through 4 beads of the previous arc, repeating this process around the edge of the petal.
- Fasten the ends of the wire by twisting them.
- Make 2 more petals.
How to weave the outer petals and stamens
Now let's take care of the external petals of gloxinia from beads. The wire for them should be thicker than for the inside, at least 0.4 mm. The same diameter will be needed for foliage.
Work begins in exactly the same way as in the case of the inner lobe:
- Put 18 beads on the axis and make 4 arcs, and then put so many beads on the wire to pass it behind the previous arc below 13 beads on top. So a clove is formed. The wire needs to be fixed.
- Then pick up the beads and lower the wire down, securing it to the lower end of the petal.
- In the next arc, pass the wire one bead higher than in the previous step. Again, lower the wire down and, having collected the right amount of beads on it, fix it. Repeat one more time. It should turn out three rows with cloves.
- Create a clove on the other side of the petal in the same way.
- At the final stage, you need to make a border with white beads. It starts with the tenth bead from the bottom and is performed in the same way as for the inner petals.
- Make 3 more petals.
Stamens are woven needle-like. To do this, collect 40 beads on the wire, then skip 30 beads and pass the wire every 10 in the opposite direction, forming 3 loops on the leg. Stamens will need 3 pieces.
Sepals and foliage for gloxinia
At the next stage of creating gloxinia from beads, we will take up the green part of the plant. For sepals, collect 12 green beads on the axis and make 3 arcs on both sides, and then fix the wire. Make 5 pieces.
To create leaves, you need a wire 0.4 mm thick.
- On the central axis, dial 25 beads and make 3 arcs on both sides.
- On the fourth arc, begin to form cloves. To do this, pass the wire through the ninth bead of the previous row and, lowering it down, dial the desired amount of beads to finish the row.
- Then re-fill the beads and thread the wire 8 beads lower than on the previous arc. Repeat again, follow the opposite side of the sheet using the same technique.
- Make 3-4 sheets.
Assembling gloxinia from beads
To assemble the flower you will need a thick wire. First fix the stamens, then the petals, with the wrong side facing out. The flower will turn out to be heavy, therefore carefully fix its parts together, otherwise they will fall apart. For additional fastening, you can sew the edges of the leaves with wire. Then add the sepals one by one, attaching them to the bud with a floral tape in brown or green. Last attach the leaves.
Product design
Having made three of these flowers and a sufficient number of leaves, you can do the design of gloxinia from beads and place it in a pot or opaque vase. To fix the product, you need alabaster or gypsum, which is bred to the consistency of sour cream. It must be carefully poured into the container and wait a bit until the mixture becomes denser.
Then, the thick wire to which the flowers were attached is shortened, and the buds and leaves are placed in a pot tightly to each other. When the mixture has completely hardened, it can be painted brown on top or decorated with artificial moss. Usually, due to the wide leaves of the plant, the soil is not visible, but the flower will look more natural against the background of greenery.
The scheme for weaving gloxinia from beads is quite simple and understandable even for beginners. A flower can be collected in another way, using fewer petals or stitching from a single canvas. The leaves are also performed in various techniques, which allows you to combine different options and create unusual compositions.
