Sergey Yesenin is one of the most prominent poets of the Silver Age. His works are included in the curriculum of all schools in our country today, many poems are known and with pleasure remembered by adults. It is not surprising that such a great and talented writer was erected a mass of monuments throughout the country. But among all the monuments there are special ones. One of them is a monument to Yesenin, installed on Tversky Boulevard in Moscow.
History of creation
A sculpture was installed in 1995, to the centenary of the poet's birthday. The monument to Yesenin was created by sculptor A. Bichukov and architect A.V. Klimochkin. The masters wanted to immortalize precisely the “simple guy from Ryazan”, therefore the image of the writer is quite informal and simple. However, if we compare the resulting sculpture with the memoirs of the poet’s contemporaries, it is easy to understand that the work was a success, and Yesenin looked something like this during his lifetime. The monument really turned out to be very sincere and alive, it is liked by residents of the capital and tourists. The poet at the same time looks a little shy and a little thoughtful.
Monument to Yesenin: photo and description
The sculpture depicts the writer in full growth, mounted on a pedestal. Behind the writer is a floral ornament, on which he rests with one hand. Monument to Yesenin in Moscow on
Tverskoy Boulevard depicts a poet, frozen in an informal pose. One leg is slightly bent at the knee, and the right arm is wound behind the back. Pose can be interpreted as an expression of shyness. If you look at the monument to Yesenin for a long time, it seems that the poet is about to come to life and stir. The sculpture was so natural and laid-back. On the pedestal in large letters it is briefly written: "Sergei Yesenin." The poet is dressed in simple trousers, a shirt and an unbuttoned jacket. An interesting detail: the top buttons of the shirt are unfastened, and there is no tie or neckerchief. This symbolizes the writer's soul open to the people and also emphasizes its insecurity.
Where is the monument to Yesenin in Moscow? It is easy to find it, since it is located in the very center of Tversky Boulevard, the exact address is: house 19. This monument is quite famous, almost every resident of the capital will tell you the way to it.
Choosing an installation location
The monument to Yesenin in Moscow is not accidentally erected on Tversky Boulevard. There are two versions why they decided to put the sculpture here. During his life, Yesenin turned to the monument to A.S. Pushkin, set nearby, in one of his poems. It was also mentioned in this work that it was about Tversky Boulevard (sculptures dedicated to Alexander Sergeyevich, also a great many in our country and Moscow in particular).
The second version is more prosaic. During the years of the poet’s life, in the house number 37 on Tverskaya Street there was a cafe “Stall of Pegasus”. Many creative and public figures of that time gathered in this institution, Yesenin himself visited it. Today, the cafe is almost forgotten, but the monument to the writer stands very close to the house in which it was located.
Yesenin and Pegasus
Near the sculpture of the poet you can see a miniature statue depicting a winged horse - Pegasus. This mythical creature could appear next to the writer in honor of a cafe that worked nearby. The poet himself wrote about the fairytale horse: "... There are a lot of us, but not personalities, but the masses ... Pegasus, loyal to the duty of honor, was mired in Tselin ..."
