Joseph Brodsky believed that every poetic work, learned by heart, can become his own. In a figurative sense, of course. But even the lightest verses of Akhamatova, Tsvetaeva, and Yesenin, learned in school, are remembered by few adults. But what about modern children and adolescents? You need to try hard to find a poetry fan among them. Moreover, most people who are far from philology are sure that memorizing poetry is a tedious and completely useless task. But this is a gross error. The article talks about why you need to learn excerpts from prose and poetry. And also the lightest verses of Akhmatova are given.
Poetry at school
As already mentioned, among modern adolescents there are very few lovers of the poetic genre. While fifty or one hundred years ago, impressive passages from Onegin could be read by heart by almost every high school student.
But today, in the XXI century, when there is access to any kind of information, the need to memorize someone’s, albeit talented, lines, it would seem, has disappeared. And the priorities have become different. It is difficult to imagine in our century Yesenin, reading out the poem “The Black Man” with an oppressed and painful expression on his face, and the audience who is fascinated by him. The interests of today's young people are different.
Many students have difficulty memorizing poetry. It’s not easy for them to remember the lines “It was stuffy with a burning light” or “I clasped my hands under a dark veil”. But these are perhaps the easiest poems by Akhmatova. As a result, the assessment of the literature is reduced, hostility to this subject appears.
But each student is (if successful) a future student. Universities will have to work out huge volumes of information, which is impossible with a bad memory. Learning poetry, along with learning foreign languages, is the best way to develop memory.
Where to start?
Memorizing lyric works is easy. But for a person who has never done this, the process may seem complicated. In fact, each subsequent poem is remembered faster. You just need to start. And, of course, not from od Lomonosov, but from poems that are close to the heart. To do this, it is better to read the collection of poetry of the Silver Age, where everyone will find light verses by Akhmatova, Annensky, Yesenin, Tsvetaeva suitable for themselves.
Poetry for adults
Learning poetry is necessary not only for children and adolescents. Doctors suggest that memorizing excerpts from prose or lyrical works is a great way to prevent Alzheimer's. It is known that senile forgetfulness is less common among actors. Representatives of this profession study texts all their lives. This is part of their job. And therefore, even if you are in the prime of life and consider it too early to think about age-related ailments, take measures. Learn at least three lines daily.
Stress Reliever
We live in a difficult time. Every day we are under stress: traffic jams, queues in state institutions, conflicts at work, quarrels in the family. A person who knows many poems has a huge advantage over those who mistakenly perceive poetry as a relic of the past. It is worth giving an example.
After a hard day's work, a woman comes to a parent's meeting at school. Within ten minutes, the teacher sets out useful information. And the subsequent time is allotted to conversations that either do not make sense, or have, but for the individual present. The woman begins to get nervous: dinner is not cooked, tomorrow you need to get up early. An unpleasant sensation of wasted time appears, and the mother of one of the students pours oil into the fire, narrating with pride about the achievements of her son.
You can leave the school class, referring to affairs. But the heroine of this little story is an intelligent person, and people of this type never avoid uncomfortable situations. And it seems that it was for such people that Tsvetaeva and Akhmatova created their soulful works. Light verses, consisting of only five to seven lines, can distract, relax, even relieve a little stress. A woman reads (not out loud, of course): “Do you want to know how all this was?”, And after two or three minutes the idle conversations of her parents do not bother her so much.
Easy verses by Anna Akhmatova and Marina Tsvetaeva need to know. It should be said that not every voluminous work is complex. Above was an excerpt from a poem, consisting of only seven lines. It is easy to learn. But you can also find poems by Anna Akhmatova, which are easy to learn, but have an impressive volume. For example, "Song of the last meeting."
You can also name one of Tsvetaeva’s poems: “Yesterday I looked into my eyes ...”. The lyrical heroine tells of a difficult female share, of the variability and betrayal of men. The refrain sounds the words: "My dear, what have I done to you?" The poem consists of ten verses. Those who know him by heart are not afraid of even traffic jams.
However, let us return to the work of Akhmatova. Most of the poems of this author are small in volume and, indeed, easy to learn. But in order to memorize them quickly, you need to understand the meaning. The following are easy-to-learn verses by Akhmatova.
about the author
She did not write funny works by Akhmatov. Poems that are easy to learn have a fairly deep content. Those who prefer cheerful poetry should turn to the early period of Yesenin's work. The golden-haired native of Ryazan village (at the beginning of his career) composed mainly poems about nature. As for Akhmatova, she lived a long but difficult life. The husband - Gumilyov - was arrested, and then shot. The son spent many years in the camps, and after his release, he could not establish relations with his mother.
Akhmatova’s autobiographical poem, “They Gone You at Dawn.” The work consists of eight lines. It tells about the arrest of a loved one. The author concludes the poem with the words that she, apparently, is destined, like streltsy women, "to howl under the Kremlin towers."
"Confusion"
This poem has three parts. The first begins with the words "It was stuffy with burning light." The lyrical heroine talks about the first meeting with her lover. Then, in the second part, her chosen one shows obvious indifference. And finally, in the third - the denouement. “Ten Years of Fading and Screaming” is how the last stanza begins. In just a few lines, Akhmatova told the whole story. A story of love, frustration and indifference. The poem ends with a capacious, laconic and very wise phrase: "You went away, and it became again in your soul both empty and clear."
Each of the parts of “Confusion” is a separate poem. You can learn one of them, but you can do it all. There are no metaphors difficult for perception in this work. It is pretty simple. But at the same time it amazes with depth and penetration.
"Clasped her hands ..."
This is one of the most famous poems. His heroine is a strong, proud woman. In only twelve lines, the poetess conveyed the whole depth and drama of her experiences. He's leaving. She runs after him, "without touching the railing." Despite his pride, he says: "If you leave, I will die." But in the meantime, he remains calm or trying to seem so. He smiles “calmly and creepyly” and utters a meaningless phrase.
Akhmatova’s poems are easy to learn not only due to the lack of complex art forms. Her poetry is close to every woman. However, among men there are admirers of Anna Akhmatova’s talent.
“All of us are shredders ...”
At the beginning of the last century, poets used to gather in special institutions, which were a cross between a cafe and a club of interests. One of them was in the basement and was called "Stray Dog." Anna Andreyevna often visited there. And although mostly writers gathered there, the place was rather vicious. Akhmatova devoted the lines “We are all moth-eaters here, harlots” to this institution and its visitors.
Short, light verses need to be taught every day. And not just to train memory. Poetry is part of the cultural heritage. Fortunately, Bradbury's predictions did not come true. Books in the 21st century do not burn. Nevertheless, people are moving away from them more and more every year. Poems need to be taught at least in order not to become one of the heroes of the famous dystopia and not to forget how to think and see the beautiful.
