Handmade braid for grass is a tool that was used by our ancestors. And now, many summer residents prefer not to splurge on fairly expensive lawn mowers and trimmers. Moreover, a manual scythe is much more convenient when it is necessary to remove tall grass, for example, under trees, or in other narrow and uneven areas.
There are only two types of this tool: a scythe for grass manual "litovka" and
pink salmon spit.
The first has a slightly larger size and handle, and therefore more convenient to use. Do not get too big a braid for the site. A medium sized tool will be sufficient. In
gardening equipment stores, quite often knife blades and cuttings for braids are sold separately. Therefore, some gardeners may wonder how to properly assemble this tool.
Sometimes a wedge and a ring are used to connect the knife and the handle. The latter is put on the handle, then the knife itself is inserted into it and fixed by driving a wedge. However, such a connection cannot be called very reliable, since the ring often jumps off during operation. After that, he and the wedge often have to be searched in the grass and reassembled. Therefore, it is much more reliable to use a regular bolt with nut and concave washer to connect the parts.

A hand braid for grass will be much more convenient if you attach a handle to the handle. To do this, take two birch stems about 15-18 cm long, 2.5-3 cm in diameter and treat them with a large skin. Then, special recesses are made at one of their ends so that in the future they fit the stalk sufficiently tightly. After that, take a thin steel strip and attach rods to it on both sides. Further, everything is simple - with the resulting solid element, they round the stalk and tie the rods with twine or wire so that the handle rests on it as tightly as possible.
It would seem that the tool is quite simple - a manual scythe for mowing grass. However, it may not work out the first time. In order to do everything correctly, it is necessary, taking the braid in your hands, put your feet so that the distance between the feet is approximately 40 cm. The braid moves along an arc of the intended circle. You should not capture more than 15 cm of grass at a time. Pass the mowed field in rows so that the fallen grass remains on the left. The emphasis is on the βheelβ of the braid, the tip of the cutting panel should look slightly up. They try to keep the knife as close to the ground as possible.

Manual scythe for grass - the tool is quite convenient and reliable. For its use there is no need for the availability of electricity on the site or in the purchase of expensive gasoline. All that is needed is to beat her off from time to time. The difficulty is only in the duration of the process. Sharpening the banner in this way is quite simple, but without experience trying to do it is not worth it. You can just damage the knife. It is better to entrust the matter to a specialist.
A manual scythe for grass also requires periodic sharpening during mowing. Therefore, in the field you need to take a whetstone with you. As soon as you feel that the grass is "taken" worse, swipe it several times along the blade. Be careful with this - it is enough to injure your fingers on a sharp braid.
