Recently, new types of products began to appear on the market of building cladding materials. They are distinguished by ease of assembly and installation, high quality and durability, as well as a number of technical advantages. Among such materials, metal siding can be noted, the installation of which is used to decorate both industrial buildings and residential buildings. The use of this type of finish will eliminate external defects of buildings, add newness to dilapidated walls, as well as protect them from destruction and increase their heat-shielding properties.
Main works
Metal siding (installation of which does not require much effort) is a sheet, one end of which is perforated, and the holes are made taking into account compensatory expansion at temperature extremes. The main steps for the installation of this material can be represented as follows:
- Preparatory work. This stage includes the removal of fasteners for the drainage system, roller shutters (if any) and other structures. You also need to clean the facade of crumbling plaster and climbing plants. In addition, it is necessary to check the surface of the walls with the help of a level, it is recommended to remove irregularities by laying the battens system.
- Laying the frame. This type of work can be done from wooden beams or a metal base for siding. When choosing the latter option, the profile is attached to the wall using suspensions (strips with perforation). Wooden crates are usually made of bars 5 × 5 cm in size, the fastening step depends on the structure of the building and the design of metal siding.
- Marking and fixing brackets. Installation instructions for metal siding contain information about the set distances, these values differ for each siding model, but basically the values range from 400–1000 mm.
- Laying insulation. These works are performed to increase the thermal protection of the building, the material is fixed with dish-shaped dowels. In addition, waterproofing and windproof membranes must be laid on top.
- Metal siding, the installation of which also includes the fastening of additional elements, is connected to the crate using self-tapping screws. In this case, the starting bar is installed first - 4 cm above the expected start of the panel installation, the second element is fixed 6 mm from this level. The final part is carried out under the eaves, the step of installing the slats is 20–40 cm, when connecting them, it is recommended to leave a gap to compensate for the thermal expansion.
- Installation of the main elements. At the same time, the fastening is performed from the corner of the building, the screws must be connected from the central part to the edges into the perforated holes. Openings for the window should be marked on the sheet and cut, in the same way to process the details under the cornice.
Additional Information
Metal siding (the installation of which was discussed above) can be processed using tools such as a hacksaw, an electric saw, scissors for working on metal and so on. At the same time, devices with an abrasive cutting element, for example, a grinder, cannot be used, since this can lead to destruction of the material structure. In addition, when working, you may need the following tools:
- level, tape measure with a measuring tape;
- plumb, square, marker;
- screwdriver, hammer, riveter.
