A tulle skirt is a fashionable and quite comfortable wardrobe item. It is not difficult to make it, and children simply love to wear such magnificent and light things. Skirts made of tulle are used extremely widely: they can be combined with tops and worn for the holidays, and short skirts are suitable for everyday use. Ways to create tulle skirts

However, a tulle skirt for a girl with her own hands can be created on the basis of existing clothing.
Lined tulle
Such a skirt is cut out as a “sun” or “half-sun” model.
Many specialized magazines contain detailed instructions to help sew the base. Calculation of tulle for its tailoring is performed as follows:
- Measure the length of the skirt without taking into account the belt and add two centimeters as an allowance for the seam. The lower edge of the tulle is not hemmed, therefore, allowances are not needed here. However, layers of transparent material should overlap the lining by 3-5 cm, and this should be taken into account. Thus, we get the height of the tulle strip, which is equal to: skirt length + plus 2 cm + 3-5 cm.
- The width of the strip of transparent material for one layer is equal to the size of the lining (at the widest point), multiplied by two. A tulle skirt may contain two or more layers. The larger their number, the product will be more magnificent and airy.
How much material do you need to buy
Often tulle is sold in rolls, the width of which is three meters. For the convenience of calculations, this size can be taken as the height of the strips, and the length of the purchased segment - for their width. Thus, if you need to sew a skirt with a length of 50 cm and a volume of 120 cm, then you should buy 1.2 m tulle. Such a tulle skirt will consist of five layers: (50 + 2 + 3) x 5 = 275. The rest is a strip of material 25 cm high.
How to sew a tulle
After the strips are cut out, they should be sewn on one side, combine these seams on all layers, make sure that they are all from the wrong side, and sweep to the waistband of the skirt. In the process of basting, tulle needs to be fixed, forming the same folds. A good way to help create a uniform assembly is to lay one line connecting all layers. First, loosen the tension of the upper thread in the sewing machine. As a result, one thread in the line will be weakened, pulling it, you can get the necessary assembly. Perform these steps carefully so as not to break the thread.
Tulle skirt with ruffles
This type of children's skirts can be created on the basis of finished products or after the lining is sewn. Each ruffle consists of a narrow strip of tulle, gathered along the center line and sewn in the corresponding place of the skirt.
Strips can contain a different number of layers: from two to ten. Their width also does not have a specific standard, it depends on the preferences of the craftswoman.
Material calculation:
- Count the number of rows of ruffle. A tulle skirt for the girl, whose photo is located above, is decorated with three rows. All of them are equal in width and height.
- The length of each row of ruffles is equal to twice the width of the skirt.
- It is believed how many stripes will need to be cut: the number of ruffles (3) x the number of layers (5) = 15.
- For example, the width of the skirt is 70 cm, which means that the length of the strips of tulle is 70 x 2 = 140 cm.
- 300: 140 = 2 whole stripes can be cut out by placing them across the width of the tulle. If the width of each strip is 24 cm, then you will need to buy 200 cm tulle.
After cutting the material into strips, they are combined in five pieces and sewed in the center with a weakened line. Then they are pulled together to the desired size (70 cm) and stitched on one side. Then, along the central line, skirts are attached to the base. Each ruffle is double. The latter should be sewn as close to the edge as possible.
How to make a tulle skirt for a girl with her own hands without sewing
There is a method of creating a fluffy children's skirt without the use of threads, needles and a sewing machine. Here you need only tulle, wide elastic and a little time. The calculation of the material is quite difficult, since it all depends on how fluffy the skirt should be.
Usually for children with a waist volume of about 50 cm, up to 2 m of material 3 m wide is used.

Strips should only be attached to stretched elastic. To do this, they put it on a knee or on the legs of a chair.
