The ATV as a means of transportation appeared several decades ago. His prototype was a tricycle. Today, these transport units are divided into several categories - children’s, sports and utilitarian. Children's models are aimed at riders weighing up to 68 kilograms in the category of up to 12 years, i.e. may suit skinny adults. There are also samples for babies from 6 years old. What rights are needed on an ATV for such "drivers" is hard to say. Sports samples have a certain weight, suspension and require management skills. But most often they buy a series of utilitarian machines that can be used as a draft vehicle on a personal plot, as well as for exciting walks. At the same time, some users begin to think about what rights are needed on the ATV.
This vehicle is a serious car, because a number of models have four-wheel drive, about 40
horsepower in the engine, the ability to accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour, even along a country road. Therefore, a number of issues need to be resolved, including one such as: “What rights are needed on an ATV?”
Many believe that to manage such a tool, documents of the “B” series are needed. But this is an erroneous opinion. In fact, the rights to the ATV belong to the category “A” (for motorcycles, snowmobiles, etc.). They can be obtained either from scratch or by retraining from category “B” within one and a half to two months. The latter method involves the fact that during the training an emphasis will be placed on the device of a motor vehicle, especially its driving, and ways to troubleshoot. It is also believed that the right to drive a motorcycle is given the right to a motorcycle for which you passed the exam before 2000. You need to take photographs, a medical certificate, pay the state fee and get rights in the State Technical Supervision.

In this case, you can prepare yourself, based on requirements No. 796, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation in 1999 (July 12). The same normative document can be referenced if they try to send you to courses. To pass the exams, you need to study the rules for drivers of off-road vehicles (safe operation of motor vehicles, emergency assistance), and also learn how to perform several simple exercises:
- drive through a two and a half meter wide corridor;
- back up into an opening 250 cm wide;
- drive the "snake";
- perform a movement in a semicircle 2.5 meters wide.
The practical part of the classes can be done on your own car or on a rental directly at the site. In the second case, you need to know about the presence or absence of the vehicle in advance.
What rights do you need for an ATV should be known to those who purchase, for example, a Stealth 500K car , which is designed for two passengers. This sample “pulls” half a ton along with it, has a length of 2.25 meters and a dead weight of 326 kg. Engine displacement is close to 500 “cubes”, and power is 32 horsepower. The height of the seats is about a meter above the ground, which does not exclude the possibility of injuries in the absence of driving skills. Therefore, it is better to get them at courses that must have a certificate from the State Technical Supervision.
If the surrender of the license was successful, then you will be given documents for their receipt, to which you need to add a certificate stating that you have not been deprived of a driver’s license (valid for ten days, taken to the traffic police). The latter must be presented upon receipt of documents together with a passport and driver’s license.
