Many of us still believe that rare marine animals are mysterious large and evil monsters that threaten humans. In fact, in nature there are many species of small animals that exist in small specimens, and their descriptions are known from a few meetings with them.
Many would like to meet some rare sea monster or at least believe that they exist. Such representations have long aroused human curiosity and excited the imagination.
Sea animals, such as sea snakes, are among such representatives. There are several candidates for this title.
This herring king is a very long and large fish, the length of which reaches eleven meters, although in some sources even a nineteen-meter fish is recorded. This very rare species lives in the deep sea of the oceans.
The next representative of marine fauna - the king of the underwater kingdom (as Japanese fishermen called him) is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. It is called a “belt fish” and is the longest bone fish in the ocean. Its average length is from 5 to 6 m with a weight of a quarter ton. He has a very flattened body, which is why his name happened. The dorsal fin originates on the head and has a bright red hue. To date, these marine animals are very little studied by scientists, since they rarely appear in places accessible for study. The meat of this sea monster is not eaten either by humans or other animals.
Another unusual marine animals are giant eels. They are still amazed at their migration process, which they go through when spawning. Leptocephals, their larvae, are also no less mysterious than their parents. In the 30s of the last century, a marine expedition caught a representative of the larvae of marine giant eel, which reached a size of about two meters. It can be assumed that the length of an adult with normal development can reach incredible 30-meter sizes.
Sea animals such as giant squids reliably hide their secrets in the depths of the sea. In 1887, such a kraken was caught, reaching about 17.5 m in size with tentacles. Scientists suggest that the sea depths may also have gigantic creatures reaching a length of 20 meters.
There is also about 3 thousand species of all kinds of lizards in sea waters, and only the only marine animal is the iguana. Scientists also know little about their life, because the homeland of their existence is the sparsely populated and distant islands of the Galapagossa. These animals reach 1.5 meters in length. Thanks to C. Darwin, we have an idea of the marine iguana. He was not delighted with her, describing her as an ugly, stupid and slow-moving animal.
Another strange, but no less rare marine animal is a sea worm that lives in the deep ocean. Because of its strange bizarre appearance, it is called "flying buttocks." Only in 2007, the world had the opportunity to get to know him. California scientists found about ten marine worms in Monterey Bay. Pugaportinus is no bigger than a nut and very similar to disembodied buttocks. Its Latin name translates as "reminiscent of a pig's backside." Until now, scientists do not know whether an adult is an animal or just a larva.
Rare marine animals are striking in their original forms and bright colors. I would like to note another representative of the deep sea - this is a fish with a transparent head. Its Latin name is almost impossible to pronounce. She has a completely transparent head that protects her tubular eyes. As an object of study, it is a very interesting instance. The structure of the eyes of this inhabitant of the sea was studied only in 2009. She lives at rather great depths and can only look up. Attempts to study her vision brought flour to the fish due to the fact that it was difficult to bear the changing pressure.
That's how many secrets can be hidden under the water! Most likely, their study will never cease to attract zoologists and ichthyologists.
