Almost all people know what ordinary metal pipes look like . Most often they have a circular cross section of various diameters. Profiled pipes are produced with a section in the form of an oval, rectangle, square, polygon.
General information
The mechanical characteristics of this metal rolling must fully comply with GOST 13663-86. At the moment, on sale you can find profiled pipes of 120 sizes. The range of electric-welded products corresponds to the following GOSTs: oval - 8642-68; square - 8639-82; rectangular - 8645-68. For the manufacture of these pipes, steel of the following grades is most often used: St2ps, St2sp, St2kp, St4ps, St4sp, St4kp (GOST380-94); 10, 20, 35, 45, 10PS, 08 KP (GOST 1050-88). Profiled pipes can also be made of low-alloy
steel grade 09G2S. Stainless steel products differ from ordinary ones not only in cross-section, but also in wall thickness.
Classification of profiled pipes
Based on the purpose of this metal product, the following groups of pipes are divided:
- A - mechanical properties are normalized for it.
- B - mechanical and chemical properties are normalized for it.
Profiled pipes can be manufactured in two ways: with and without heat treatment. According to the manufacturing method, they are divided into how many categories: cold-deformed (have high structural performance), hot-deformed, electric-welded, cold-deformed electric-welded pipes made of carbon steel (durable, but more expensive).
Profiled pipes have much greater mechanical strength than conventional pipes with a circular cross section. Moreover, the weight of such a product with comparable strength characteristics will be approximately 20% less. Such pipes are welded and seamless. The former are made of strip or
sheet steel, and the latter are made from tube blanks and solid metal ingots.
Profiled pipes are much easier to install, which allows them to be used in different areas of the economy. They are universal rolled steel because they have the following properties: high adaptability, reliability and simplicity of nodal joints, a minimum number of welds, and low aerodynamic drag. Structures from such metal rolling reduce the capacity of the foundation, the cost of its construction and make it possible to build very durable metal-concrete structures. Thanks to the use of profiled pipes, the installation speed of structures and buildings increases.
Scope of profiled pipes
This type of metal is used in construction, engineering, the construction of various frame structures (for supports, spans and ceilings). Most often, oval rolling is used for decorative elements and in the manufacture of furniture. Rectangular and square pipes are more suitable for structures placed on flat surfaces. Now it has become fashionable to use profiled pipes for the fence. For its manufacture, columns of 60x60 mm are suitable. The interval between them is 3 m. Depth - 1.2 m. During the construction of the fence, a profiled pipe of 20.40x25 mm is used. Entire sections are welded from it, welded onto poles.
