There are probably not many games that absorb all our free time, and after completing all the steps you look back and think: “Wow, this is a game!” The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, developed by CD Projekt RED, was just such a project. Released on May 16, 2011, she acquired the love of millions of fans, and in Russia she became a real treasure, loved by the indescribable atmosphere of the Slavic world. Game Review
The script of the second “The Witcher” continues the story of the original, but if you have no idea about the adventures of Geralt in Vyzima and its environs in search of the Salamander squads, then nothing will happen, since for the most part this is an absolutely independent part. From the very first minutes, an epic introduction awaits us, diluted with dramatic events and revelations. Unfortunately, at the end of the prologue, Geralt will be accused of killing King Voltest, albeit completely unfounded. Nevertheless, our protagonist will be able to avoid a difficult fate in order to find the real killer of the king and clear his name. Stormy political discussions, unexpected scenic twists, deeply thought out branches - all this is part of a wonderful storyline that captivates the player for almost 40 hours.
In terms of gameplay, the sequel has gone far from the original. The developers completely rebuilt the combat system, and the signs received several modified elements of influence. Of course, the usual activities of the witcher did not go anywhere: collecting alchemical ingredients and cooking various potions, crafting swords and armor, meditation and more. There is also a character leveling along 3 branches of development: a magician, a fighter, and an alchemist. It is worth noting that the game does not have a fully open world. Instead, in each new chapter, we are presented with a completely new colorful location, which Geralt can explore up and down in search of interesting tasks and personalities.
As a separate word, I would like to mention the complexity of the gameplay. The hero of our review became one of the hardcore RPGs of modern times, second only to the insane Dark Souls. The project provides several modes of difficulty, where "Dark" and "Crazy" are ready to challenge the gamers. In his free time from the passage of the main storyline, the player can undertake the implementation of secondary quests, which are in no way inferior in quality to the main missions. All dialogs are beautifully written, the characters are charismatic, and the variety is sometimes very surprising. It is especially interesting to hunt monsters, the destruction of which is possible only with a special approach. Finally, in order to relax somewhat after numerous hassles, you can play mini-games, which include poker on dice, hand wrestling and mixed fights.
The technical side of the project deserves special mention. The Witcher 2, the system requirements of which we will provide below, has amazing graphics with an excellent play of light and shadow, wonderful detailing of characters and objects, rich colors of the world and breathtaking panoramas that are breathtaking. The game was developed on the engine RED Engine, created in-house by the company. Cities and forests, caves and water surfaces - everything looks amazing, forcing the player to admire the beauties of the southern kingdoms. The soundtrack, based on the music of the Slavic peoples, is also impressive, leaving a lasting impression of getting to know the game.

As you can see from the screenshots, the game looks incredibly beautiful, and therefore the PC requirements are quite significant. In principle, the Poles have optimized the engine well, and therefore, to run at low graphics settings, which in itself looks decent, your computer must have the following specifications:

- Video card: GeForce 8800 or Radeon HD 3850;

For the modern world of the gaming industry, the requirements are pretty insignificant. But keep in mind that you will not see all the beauties prepared for us by the developers. For more detailed settings at a high level of graphics, you will need a PC, the filling of which is described below.
The Witcher 2: system requirements (recommended and maximum)
To display a beautiful picture on the monitor, you will need:

- CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad or AMD Phenom X4;
- RAM: 4 Gb;
- GPU: GeForce 260 or Radeon HD 4850;
- 16 Gb free hard disk space.
Nevertheless, if you decide to set all the sliders in the graphic settings to the maximum, activating also “Outrageous quality”, then such a system will not be enough for the game “The Witcher 2”. System requirements (maximum) are described below:
- OS: Windows 7;
- CPU: Intel Core i5 3.4 Ghz / AMD Phenom II X4 3.6 Ghz;
- RAM: 8 Gb;
- GPU: GTX 560 / Radeon HD 5870;
- 16 Gb free hard disk space.
It is with the above parameters that you can enjoy all the beauties of The Witcher 2. System requirements, of course, are not the most budgetary, but it's worth it.
Technical problems
- Knocks out the error mfc100u.dll was not found. Try installing the latest version of MS Visual C ++.
- Very low productivity and frequent lags. You need to update the drivers for your video card, as well as lower the graphics quality settings (in particular, "Shadows", "Smoothing" and "Texture memory size"). You can also do the following: Start menu => Run => cmd => bcdedit / set IncreaseUserVa 3072 => restart your PC.
- The Witcher 2 does not start. System requirements are the first things you need to pay attention to. If your PC does not match them, you will have to upgrade. Other solutions to the problem can be the installation of all important drivers, reinstalling the game, reducing all graphic settings. If you have a pirated copy of the game, then install all the patches that fix many bugs.
- Constantly below and above the screen black bars appear. The game is designed for widescreen monitors, and therefore on the traditional 5: 4 and 4: 3 in any case, these bands will appear.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Currently, the CD Project studio is developing the final part of the Geralt series from Rivia. The release of the game should take place on May 19, 2015 on PC and new generation consoles. This time, igrodely promise to present a truly epic adventure unfolding in a large open world filled with small villages, vast forests, stormy rivers, decaying swamps and other delights. The city of Novigrad deserves special mention, in which thousands of different people, dwarf people and elves, who go about their business in daily turmoil, live. Finally, Ciri and Yennifer will appear in The Wild Hunt, which fans have been waiting for so long, as well as old friends Buttercup, Zoltan and, of course, Triss Merigold. The developers have redesigned the combat system and the effects of the signs, many new skills have been added, and the passage itself can take 100 hours, which is truly amazing. We are waiting with special trepidation!
