Savannah is an amazing place that can conquer anyone. Among its unusual nature, there is a special feeling of human defenselessness before a powerful element. The savannah animals are no less interesting, the wonderful world of which reveals its secrets only to those who truly love nature and the "brothers" of our lesser ones. Rare species of plants and animals have attracted travelers for hundreds of years. Some come here to simply admire the gracefulness of gazelles on occasion, others to hunt, and still others go to the savannah to study these completely unknown lands.
The fauna of the savannah is very diverse and you need to know it gradually, patiently studying the habits of animals and their environment. The savannah itself is extraordinary. In summer, it is green and moist, and with the onset of winter it becomes dry and yellow. Bright representatives of this zone are zebras and giraffes. Interestingly, these savannah animals always graze next to each other. People studying the behavior of these mammals in the wild have repeatedly felt that giraffes and zebras understand each other from a half-view. Apparently, itβs not for nothing that they always stay close. Giraffes play the role of a tower, noticing the approach of common "enemies". Once they are on their guard, zebras instantly react to this and also prepare for a possible invasion of their peaceful ranks. Savannah animals are in constant danger, as there are plenty of predators here. Holding together, it is easier for herbivores to avoid death from suddenly arising "enemies."
Zebras are one of the most visible and catchy mammals in the savannah. These animals are unusually tightly knocked down, and their activity indicates an excess of vitality. Their behavior resembles the games of kids. No savannah animals play or wallow in dust like zebras. Apparently cute and balanced, they often bully toward each other, like bored little children. Watching them is a pleasure!
Animals are sometimes outwardly absurd. This fully applies to the wildebeest, which is jokingly called the humpbacked horse. Indeed, it is unusual. In these animals there are traits reminiscent of other mammals: muzzle, like a horse; body like an antelope and a horn like a bull. What is not a fairy tale character ?! Given the fact that savannah animals are usually represented by large populations, wildebeests graze in huge herds and try to stay close to their cousins ββ- impala antelopes. They do not shun society of giraffes and zebras, with whom they get along well in the same territory. In this friendly "company" of the antelope, the impala is perhaps the quickest. They can be compared with grasshoppers, however, color fails. This type of antelope is distinguished by its red color and is especially light when moving. Their ears are large and look like plush.
The marshy shores of the ponds in the savannah can usually clearly indicate in the footsteps which of the inhabitants are nearby. As a rule, buffaloes like to be in these places, and in the ponds themselves you can see large and clumsy hippos. Moisture lovers, these peace-loving creatures most often do not show completely, but from afar you can notice two huge and bulging eyes.
If we talk about ponds, then you can not help but remember about crocodiles. The savannah animals fear them for their bad temper and try to stay away from those places where these green predators are found. Not only the hippopotamus is not afraid, he is a pachyderm. Maybe that's why hippos and crocodiles coexist peacefully, although the first second do not like.
Not only animals of the savannah are interesting, but also their feathered companions, among which one cannot but mention open-air storks. These birds are distinguished by the fact that their beaks never close tightly and rather resemble long tongs, with the help of which they manage to cleverly split snails.
