Roof for gazebo: materials and forms of roofs

The structural features of the gazebo and its location on the site are determined only by the individual preferences of the owners and are not regulated by anything. You can always find a design that will create a single architectural structure with a residential building.

Roof for gazebo

The choice of configuration and materials for the cottage pavilion is affected, as a rule, by aesthetic temptation. And its roof sets for the gazebo, because in fact we notice it from afar. And it is on it that we evaluate the architectural style of the whole structure.

With all the variety of species, garden arbors should not be similar to the capital structure. A gazebo is an “airy” building for rest or shelter from rain and the annoying sun. Its design is selected based on the weather conditions of the area. A horizontal or gently sloping roof will trap snow, and a canopy made with a large slope is deformed by strong winds (due to its windage).

Having decided on the roof structure, its shape is selected. It can be domed, hipped or multi-slope. Often, as conceived by the master, the roof for the gazebo can be made in the form of a combined design. The most important load-bearing elements of the roof are rafters.

Roofing material

There are two different types of materials for roofing equipment - hard and soft.

The hard type includes:

  • slate;
  • polymer plates;
  • roof tile;
  • fiberglass on a cardboard basis.

To the soft type - roofing material or shingles.

Polycarbonate is relatively soft. Soft coatings are laid on a smooth and durable base.

It is very important to choose the right material. For example, a roof for a gazebo made of corrugated board or metal tiles will be a poor sound insulator. When it rains, it will be impossible. The sound will be booming. So that the sound of raindrops does not irritate you and does not cause inconvenience, it is advisable to choose one of the soft materials with high noise absorption characteristics.

If the roof structure is combined, polycarbonate is what you need. Polycarbonate is a modern and durable material. It has a lot of advantages:

  • economical;
  • easy;
  • goes well with any reason;
  • delays ultraviolet light.

The roof for the gazebo, made of such a material, can withstand sharp temperature extremes. It is durable and reliable.

Roof shapes

- A domed roof. It is tempting that the snow on such a roof does not linger.

- Shed roof - structurally rests on the outer walls of the gazebo, which are located at different levels. In other words, it is a direct sloping roof.

- A flat roof is not as beautiful as a pitched roof, due to a slight slope. However, it is perfectly used for landscaping. Today it is very popular.

- A gable roof is a triangles of flat shape, converging at the upper point of the center of the gazebo.

- The four-pitched roof for the gazebo (hip) consists of four slopes: two have the shape of a triangle (hips), and two more - the shape of a trapezoid.

- The hipped roof is perfectly suitable for square arbors or arbors in the form of a polygon with equal sides. The slopes of the tent roofs are isosceles triangles that converge at the top of the center of the roof.

- The eastern roof is the same hip structure, only the corners are raised.

Above were presented the main types of roof arbors. Photos of these and many other structural options for canopies for arbors can be easily found on the World Wide Web and in specialized print media.
