Military operations with Finland could put an end to the relationship between the two powers, but after the conclusion of a peace treaty in the twentieth year of the last century, the governments of the countries managed to sign an act establishing diplomatic relations. A year later, the first Finnish ambassador arrived in Moscow, who established a diplomatic mission in an ordinary railway carriage. Two months later, the Soviet government gave the former church building to the Embassy of Finland in Russia.
Seventeen years later, an entirely new building was built by the efforts of Finnish engineers and Soviet specialists. It has become a haven for the diplomatic mission, and is still there.
