Silicone grease: definition and application

Silicone grease is such a valuable product that scientists are still arguing about how the world would be without it, as well as without cutting fluids. At the moment, these liquids are used in all industries. Such lubricants have found application in everyday life. It is worth considering in more detail what silicone grease is, as well as where and how it is used.

Silicone Grease
Silicone grease is obtained by mixing silicone oil and a thickener. It looks like a white paste with a viscous consistency. The scope of this type of lubricant, as well as its operational characteristics completely depend on the properties of the components included in its composition, as well as on the proportions in which they were combined at the production stage.

Silicone grease has the following basic qualities:

- able to produce a water-repellent effect;

- allows to provide protection against corrosion ;

- operating temperature can vary from -40 to +250 degrees;

- has the properties of fluidity, adhesion to glass, rubber, wood, metals and plastic;

- has a high rate of heat transfer, isolates from current, weakly ignites;

- reduces foaming, lubrication is not harmful to the skin.

Silicone grease for cars
Silicone greases are usually divided into subtypes depending on the scope of their application. For example, multi-purpose is allocated in a separate subgroup, since it is mainly used for lubricating bearings, driveshafts, as well as other compounds in cars or other technical means.

In industry, this type of material is most often used for processing rubber products, for example, o-rings. The possibility of using silicone grease at high temperatures makes it very popular in the energy industry. It is also used as one of the components of heat-conducting paste. This provides its high rate of thermal conductivity. On most modern equipment, as well as technicians, silicone grease is used. In chemical laboratories, it has also become an indispensable element.

Silicone grease for cars forms on the surface an ultra-slippery, thinnest, protective, corrosion-resistant polymer layer consisting of bonded silicone molecules that give the car surface exceptional slippery and water-repellent properties. It is also intended for long-term protection against external factors. The grease is able to maintain the elasticity of rubber seals, extend their life, prevent creaking, protect car locks from corrosion and freezing.

Silicone grease spray
Silicone spray lubricant has similar properties, but its advantage is that it is easily sprayed onto the surface to be treated. It can be used as a universal coating for various surfaces. Such properties allow the use of silicone grease in all areas of industry.
