Scuffing: what is it and where is it used?

Paving slabs for paths and platforms is considered one of the best coatings. It has an attractive appearance and fits quickly. In order to give the tile durability, you need to carefully choose the composition for its installation. Often, for these purposes, puffing is used. What is it, how to cook and use it?

Description

Scuffing - what is it? So called a two-component mixture for laying paving slabs. It is famous for its low cost combined with good construction characteristics. The composition of the cladding includes sand and dry cement. Sometimes it may contain components such as fine gravel, dolomite, marble flour, expanded clay, gypsum or lime.

Despite the fact that garzovka is such a material that has been used for a long time and its more modern analogues appeared on the market, it does not lose popularity. This is facilitated by its relatively low cost and good technical characteristics. In addition, the mixture is used for some types of finishing work.

Mixture preparation

In order to prepare a dry mixture, you will need the following ingredients and tools:

  • cement;
  • sand;
  • water;
  • shovel;
  • concrete mixer.

A high-quality mixture contains 1 part cement, 5 parts quarry sand, which are thoroughly mixed in a concrete mixer and sprayed with a small amount of water. The resulting mixture can be used within 24 hours after preparation.

The main disadvantage of garzovka is that it may be difficult for a beginner in the construction business to calculate the number of components of which it consists. However, this drawback overlaps the ease and high speed of laying paving slabs for tracks.

The choice of cement for paving

Brand of scuffle, what is it? It completely depends on the type of cement selected. The following types are used:

  1. M-300 is a universal cement, which can be used both for laying paving slabs and for performing work that requires increased mortar strength.
  2. M-200 - cement for laying tiles and other building materials. Strength corresponds to the declared types of work, so such cement is not suitable for other purposes.
  3. M-400 and M-600 have enhanced strength characteristics. It is believed that these types are not suitable for laying street tiles, but they give a 100% guarantee that over time, the solution does not crack and does not collapse from the effects of precipitation.

punching composition

The choice depends on the thickness of the tiles used, the climatic characteristics of the region and personal wishes for the strength of the mixture.

Technology for laying paving slabs

Laying paving slabs on the pavement is as follows:

  1. The topsoil is removed from the selected area to a depth of about 30 cm.
  2. It is important to establish borders at the edges of the plot, which will create a shape and will prevent deformation of the laid tiles.
  3. The bottom of the trench is covered with plastic wrap to prevent mixing of the soil with building materials.
  4. Crushed stone spills out to the bottom of the pit. The optimal layer size is 15-20 cm. After that, it is recommended to compact the stones with a vibrating plate. This will prevent possible subsidence of the tiles during operation.
  5. Then a 7 cm high pillowcase is poured, which is also slightly tamped.
  6. Tiles are laid on top of the mixture and tapped with a rubber mallet.
  7. The finished surface is compacted and leveled using a building level.
  8. The joints between the tiles are covered with dry cement.
  9. Then, with the help of a sprinkler or a watering can, it is necessary to water the track so that the cement is not accidentally washed.
  10. The solution will finally harden after 72 hours after laying the tiles.

Sometimes the sidewalk is equipped with stormwater. In such cases, it is necessary to install a sewer under the paving slabs and to install a rain grate near the curb. In this case, the area covered with tiles may have a slight slope towards rainwater to prevent stagnation of water.

punching what is it

The consumption of the building mixture varies from the thickness of the tile. This factor must be taken into account when laying the track. During installation, it is important to strictly adhere to the technology, otherwise the tile may become deformed or crack during the first frost.

The advantages of ready-made mixtures

Self-preparation of a dry mix for laying paving slabs can have its drawbacks. On the one hand, it is possible to choose better components, but on the other hand, any deviation from the proportions can adversely affect the laying of the material and its durability.

Factory garging is sold both in small volume (50 kg bags) and in bulk. Its advantages include a balanced composition, which is guaranteed not to crack or collapse under the pressure of the tile. Often, a variety of plasticizers are added to the factory mixture to improve the technical characteristics, which make the mixture flexible.
