Many people know that often gladioli are exposed to various diseases, and this begins with the bulbs. Ornamental and flowering plants directly depend on the quality of planting material. Novice gardeners need to know how to prepare gladioli for planting.
In late autumn, bulbs are dug out of the garden, dried (the roots are not removed!) And hidden in a cool dark place until spring. It is customary to plant gladioli in our latitudes in mid-April, when the earth warms up a bit. In the early spring, approximately 25 days before the due date, the bulbs are removed and prepared for planting.

Preparation of gladioli for planting includes: selection of high-quality planting material, cleaning it of covering dry areas, treating bulbs with means to prevent diseases and accelerate the growth of future plants.
Before preparing gladioli for planting, inspect the source material. It is no secret that a strong plant grows from a large bulb. But with proper planting and subsequent care, even from small ones, flowers can be grown no worse. Large bulbs are usually cut in half between tubercles with sprouts - they are then rejuvenated, and the plants grow well. Cut the sides sprinkled with ash.
Before planting, the bulbs are soaked in warm, but not hot water for 30-40 minutes. Then they are dried well and stacked sufficiently dry in a box in a row. The room where the gladioli bulbs are kept before planting must be dry, otherwise the plants will sprout prematurely. In 20-24 days, sprouts should appear on the bulbs - future plants. If nothing is visible on any bulb and there are no tubercles, we discard this material.
When sprouts on the bulbs begin to appear, the root system also develops, and then
planting material can already be planted in the soil.
Before preparing gladioli for planting directly in the ground, prepare the soil. Gladioli love loose and soft earth. Therefore, it needs to be dug up, shoveling rotten leaves. Selected bulbs are planted at a distance of at least 40 cm from each other.
Large bulbs are planted to a depth of 15-20 cm. If the depth is less, then as the stem grows, the gladiolus stem may bend, and the plant may die prematurely. In addition, the smaller the planting material is planted, the more children will form around the bulb. Children then grow up in a separate place, because next year flowering plants will grow from them.
Growing gladioli from bulbs is not difficult. It is only necessary to adhere to the simple technologies described above.
