Theatre of Drama
The Tambov Theater is one of the oldest theaters in Russia. The date of its creation is June 28, 1786. Museum of Post
The opening of the Tambov Post Museum was timed to coincide with World Post Day. The exhibition tells about the oldest and most reliable communications service in Russia. Here you can see what a milestone is with the distance from Moscow to Tambov. The exhibits featured the first mailbox, stamp envelope, and the first postage stamp. Museum of Sin
This unusual museum is located on the territory of the Second City Hospital (pathology department). It was founded by Yuri Schukin. He assembled a collection of exhibits, among which a variety of organs and fragments of the human body, symbolizing the vices that caused death. The doctor collected this unique collection about thirty years ago. It has more than five hundred exhibits. At the entrance to the museum you can see a plate with an inscription in Latin, which reads: "This is the place where the living learn from the dead."
Museum of Medicine
Tambov (the sights of this city are known far beyond its borders) is famous for its Museum of Medicine, created by a group of enthusiasts. He first opened his doors to visitors on December 29, 1978. The museum exposition tells in detail about the development of medicine in the Tambov region from the seventeenth century to the present day. Here you can see how the health workers of the Tambov region worked, evaluate their feat during the Great Patriotic War. Especially popular is the exposition, which is dedicated to the activities of the famous surgeon Voyno-Yasenetsky V.F. The museum is located on the territory of the Second City Hospital in a 19th-century building. The entrance to the building is decorated with a monument to doctors, whose heroism helped save the lives of thousands of people during the Great Patriotic War.
Chicherin House Museum
Chicherin G.V. was People's Commissar of the RSFSR. He was known as an outstanding diplomat and statesman. The house museum dedicated to his memory was opened in 1987. He is housed in the city estate of a Russian diplomat who was the father of G. Chicherin. The Chicherin family lived in this wooden one-story house from 1877 to 1886. A lot of people worked on the creation of the museum. The house has been completely renovated, the surrounding area is ennobled. The museum exposition gathered for several years. However, work on the search for new exhibits is ongoing today. Employees are constantly collecting new books, documents, one way or another related to the activities of Chicherin. Currently, the museum has three and a half thousand exhibits.
Museum of Lodygin A.N.
Great inventors famous Tambov. Sights of this city include the museum of the famous scientist Lodygin. It is to this person that the world owes the creation of such an object as a light bulb. Today, perhaps, few people remember his name. Lodygin A.N. once invented incandescent bulbs, thanks to which we can today enjoy the light and in the dark. The Lodygin Museum is located opposite the Church of the Intercession on Lermontovskaya Street. In a small old brick house where the inventor lived, a museum room is open today. Here are unique exhibits that reflect the scientist’s difficult life: samples with refractory metal threads and carbon filament, some lighting fixtures.
In addition, a fragment of the room where Lodygin worked was exhibited here. All visitors are offered lists of honorary titles and inventions of the scientist.
Temples of Tambov
One of the most remarkable is the Ascension Monastery. It was founded in 1690. The church of John of Kronstadt and the icon of the Mother of God were erected on its territory. The miraculous icon of the “Joy of All Who Sorrow” is kept in the monastery. On major religious holidays, a procession around him takes place.
