Fiberboard (Fibreboard), in fact, is a specially treated wood chip. The result is an even and sufficiently strong sheet material.
For the manufacture of this building product, almost any fiber of wood is used, as well as various wastes that are inevitable when processing wood. These include shavings, bark, lumber trimmings, etc. All the raw materials presented are mixed and fed to the grinder, where it is converted into a homogeneous small crumb, suitable for further transformations. The fiberboard itself is obtained by hot pressing the prepared raw materials, while the addition of special additives is possible. So, there are two methods:
1. Dry. When a fiberboard is obtained only by bonding wood fibers to each other.
2. Wet. In this case, the crushed mass of fibers is mixed with special binders to increase strength and resistance to bending. Most often, synthetic resins are used as such formulations.
A fiberboard is presented in any construction market in a wide range. In this regard, there is a classification in which fiberboards differ in size, degree of rigidity and purpose. Let's consider each of these groups in more detail.
Since the fiberboard can be used not only as a building and finishing, but also as an insulating material, two types of plates are distinguished by purpose, which bear the corresponding names - finishing and insulating fiberboard. Their sizes are determined by standards and can have a length of up to 5.5 meters.
The rigidity of the fiberboard is determined by the composition of the mixture from which it is made. So, there are soft, semi-solid, hard and superhard plates.
A soft-type fiberboard is widely used for sound and heat insulation of ceilings, walls and ceilings. In addition, it is used as a lining and leveling material, as well as as a filler door leaf.
Semi-solid and solid types are widely used in the process of wall decoration, they also act as a lining material for flooring. In the furniture industry, fiberboards are used to make cabinets, shelves and drawers. In automobile manufacturing, they make the inner lining of the passenger compartment.
Superhard fiberboard is most common as an electrical insulating material, which is used for the production of panels and panels.
The density of this material also has a significant impact on its characteristics, and therefore on the area of use. Even if the aesthetic appeal can be sufficiently enhanced by coating with special films and solutions, the inappropriate content of the interior may not withstand. Sometimes this threatens only with a small marriage, but if the case is more complicated, then an incorrectly selected plate can cause a critical situation.
