Magic ring
You will need to weave a special magic ring, which forms the basis of all the figures in the style of "lumigurumi". An owl from gum is no exception. The canvas layout consists of this magic circle and an arbitrary number of rows imposed on it from above. So:
- Throw a black rubber band in four turns on the hook. Crochet a second black Fanny Lum.
- Drop all the loops from the hook onto it.
- Of the two remaining loops, make one by stretching the left loop through the right.
- Insert the hook immediately into the four loops that were dropped on the elastic in the first step.
- Pull the black "iris" through them. Pull the left loop on the hook through the two remaining rings.

- To make the base ("bottom") of the figure, we need to continue weaving in the same way, only in the second row, knit two elastic bands in each loop. In the third row, weave two “Fanny Loom” into each second loop, and in the fourth - into every third.
- Continue to work, but now start one rubber band in each loop, alternating colors: the 5th row - black elastic bands, the 6th-7th - white or transparent, the 8th-16th - black "Fanny Lum", the 17th - white or transparent, the 18th - black, the 19th - white or transparent. How to make an owl out of gum if you don’t have a single machine? Very simple: just one hook and any set of "irises" of the "Fanny Lum" series is enough. If you choose multi-colored or black rubber bands for the body of an owl, try to make the big eyes contrast, that is, black and white.
- To make eyes, weave a new magic ring “lumigurumi” of black rubber bands, and then make the second row of white “Fanny Lum”. Pull the last white loop to the wrong side, pass the black rubber through it and make a ringlet. The second eye is made in the same way.
- If you already understand how to make an owl out of elastic bands, then you will probably guess for yourself how to attach eyes to the body. To do this, just select the place where the owl’s eyes will be located, pull out a loop from there and pass a ring through it left on the wrong side of the part.
