At the end of 2011, ceremonial events were held in the city of Surgut, Tyumen Region. An important event took place in sports life - a new, large, comfortable Ice Palace was commissioned and commissioned. Surgut has long been waiting for the input of this facility. Previously, sports battles were held on the hockey box of the Olympic Palace. The ice arena of this club did not fit the official standard. There was no indoor skating rink in the city for mass skating of residents. The Sports Palace solved most of the problems.
Opening of the Ice Palace
Natalya Komarova, Governor of Ugra, cut the red ribbon and inaugurated the new Sports Palace. In the new ice arena, the mayor of Surgut Dmitry Popov got the right to score the honorable first goal with this puck.
The opening ceremony was attended by city children's hockey teams, artists from the city of Yekaterinburg, who came with the Nutcracker ballet, and Olympic winners, figure skating champions Roman Kostomarov and Tatyana Navka.

Construction stages
The construction of an important facility for the city was entrusted to Surgutgazstroy, the company that won the tender and became the general contractor. The building project was approved and put into operation back in 2006. Preparatory activities took some time. At the end of 2008, the first pile was clogged. Construction went on for three years.
The commissioning of the palace was scheduled for early 2011, but the commissioning of the facility could not take place at the appointed time. Financing of the project was not always at the proper level, but the main reason for the delay was a big fire at the very beginning of the year, which delayed the delivery of the palace by a few more months. Surgut spent about two billion rubles on the construction of the Ice Palace facility, most of which (1.6 billion rubles) was allocated by the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.
The new facility is the first phase of the Ugra multifunctional modern sports complex.

Modern arena
The grandiose building is located on an area of about twenty-two thousand square meters, it includes a large ice arena, functioning year-round.
