Why close the Bauman metro?

Progress moves by leaps and bounds along the path where cities had only just begun to emerge. So, in the Russian capital, progress has forced local authorities to close the Baumanskaya metro station for long-term overhaul. For Moscow, the cornerstone event is the tragic loss of transport links and great future prospects. Nevertheless, in early 2015, it was announced that the authorities would close the Baumanskaya metro station.

Will they close the Baumanskaya metro station?

This question is very relevant for Muscovites and guests of the capital. The need for repair appeared a long time ago, since one of the most loaded is the Baumanskaya metro station. Close it with a view to overhaul. The capital is developing, the pace is growing, and the station ceases to cope with the number of passengers. The situation, it would seem, is quite natural. Nevertheless, as the head of the Basmanny municipal district Gennady Viktorovich Anichkin told the media, the project was developed taking into account the wishes of citizens so as not to complicate the lives of residents of the neighborhood.

The project provides for the repair of the lobby, renovation and increase in the number of escalators (in the old version there were only three, after the repair there will be four), updating the engineering and communication component of the station. Since such events have not been held since the forties, the responsibility on the shoulders of the organizers lay titanic, and the residents of the city doubted whether they would close only Baumanskaya in the metro.

Decision is made

Since repairs of this scale cannot be partially implemented, the decision to close was made as soon as possible. So that Muscovites won’t be tormented by the question of when the Baumanskaya metro station will be closed, information was circulated in the capital in advance. Since repair work was planned for almost the entire calendar year, it became necessary to identify alternative means of transportation. After the final approval of the plan, it was announced that the Baumanskaya metro station was closed on February 8, 2015. Changes were also brewing in the local microclimate of the station. The Department now and then had tasks, the solution of which was urgent. The Baumanskaya metro station is being closed, but there are difficulties with parking, there is no transport, the fair prevents the residents of the apartments, an empty area on the site of the former market.

On the agenda, priority tasks changed every day as they were eliminated, because at the stage of forming the closure plan, the administration clearly understood what consequences it would have to work in the future. However, not everything was complicated in this case, since only the Baumanskaya station was closed in the subway, the rest of the lines worked normally, and during this period the administration managed to achieve many results.

What are the benefits?

Free bus Mosgostrans

The unrest of citizens dissipated, since effective alternatives were found.

  1. On the line issued free shuttle buses. Since the Baumanskaya metro station is being closed, they will deliver passengers to the nearest stations for free.
  2. Baumanskaya Street was unloaded due to the lack of parking and travel.
  3. The issue of parking spaces is decided by the Department; options that are more comfortable for residents with increasing parking spaces are being considered.
  4. The issue of a weekend fair is being resolved, which caused inconvenience to residents of nearby houses.
  5. At the site of the collapsed market, it was decided to build a sports palace. Moreover, the decision was made by interviewing the VTsIOM population of the district. Residents chose the opportunity for their children to play sports, and the mayor eagerly supported this initiative.
  6. After the elimination of stalls, the criminal situation improved , which cannot but rejoice. In a word, the closure of the Baumanskaya metro station marked the beginning of many positive moments in the life of Muscovites and guests of the capital.

What about now?

Last preparations

A little over a year has passed since the grand opening. The event was attended personally by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. He appreciated the scale of the work done. Residents doubted whether the closure of the Baumanskaya station would affect the metro as a whole. A pleasant answer to the question was the fulfillment of the project implementation deadlines. Eleven months of hard work and delicate work with the object of cultural heritage gave Muscovites an updated and functional station.
