There are many secrets in sewing. The quality and aesthetics of the finished product made of fabric depends on the craftsmanship and special knowledge of the seamstress. One of the most important skills of a tailor is the edging of sections and details. Particularly difficult is the processing of armholes, necks and other rounded elements of products. For this, a special auxiliary material is usually used - a tape cut along the oblique. An oblique inlay can be done on your own by cutting the material at the right angle with strips, and then stitching them from the wrong side to get the edging of the required length. This is the best option if there is no way to pick up the trim in the desired color.

Most often these are satin ribbons of various shades, but there are also samples of cotton (plain and printed) and knitwear - this look looks like an elastic band, but it is not so elastic and has a hem in the middle, thanks to which the fold is perfectly even. How to sew an oblique edging
To process a slice using a slanting inlay, in principle, is not difficult, but it is quite a laborious job. The algorithm of actions, if the seamstress does everything not with a foot for sewing on an oblique inlay, which in some machines comes in an additional kit, but with a universal standard presser, consists of the following steps:
- Expand the rolled-up collar, attach it with the front side to the wrong side of the product and sew in even stitches at a distance of a little less than one centimeter (7-10 mm) from the cut.
- Unscrew the tape on the face and iron it.
- Wrap the inline section inward, then fix it by sweeping it to the product.
- The last step can be done using a sewing machine, then the line needs to be sewn on top of the first seam, or you can hem the hemline manually using a blind seam.

A beautiful cut for one, two
The use of additional elements and functions that are attached to standard household sewing machines, significantly saves time and effort of craftswomen. So, the inlay foot greatly simplifies the procedure for processing slices, because it makes it possible to avoid basting the tape to the product, and on the typewriter only one line is made.
The principle of using such a foot is very simple. The ideal option is when the seam passes at a distance of 1-2 mm from the cut.
