A chainsaw is indispensable in cases where you need to perform work in places that are far divorced from civilization. However, in the garden it is also much more convenient to use a gasoline tool than to drag along a dozen or two meters of extension cord.
Unfortunately, even a
chainsaw has some drawbacks
. Adjusting the carburetor is likely to baffle a person who is not too friendly with the mechanics. To understand this issue, we suggest you read our article.
Basic concepts
On any modern saw, the carburetor has three special screws:
- L - for low speed jet.
- H - designed to adjust the high-speed jet.
- T - screw for "adjustment" of idling.
The location of each of them is specific to different manufacturers, so this question should be clarified using the instruction manual. The easiest way to adjust the carburetor of the Druzhba chainsaw is that itβs easy to find instructions for its maintenance.
What are the screws for?
As you can understand, using the first two devices, the ratio of air and fuel mixture is adjusted. If the screw is tightened, then the lean mixture will enter the combustion chamber, and the speed will fall. On the contrary, when you unscrew them counterclockwise, the βoilyβ fuel mixture will burn, because of which the speed will increase.
Quite the contrary, idle speed adjustment is performed . If screw βTβ is turned clockwise, the speed will increase. Once again, we recall that each chainsaw, the carburetor adjustment of which we are considering, has a unique arrangement of tuning bodies . So carefully look at the operating instructions!
Basic setting
Initial adjustment is carried out at the factory. Note that this adjustment provides for a slightly more saturated fuel mixture. It must be stored in the first hours when the chainsaw is working. Adjustment of the carburetor further implies more precise settings.
How to do it?
First, the tool is set at idle: while the chain rotates on the working tire, you need to tighten the screw βTβ counterclockwise. Twist it up until the chain stops. Note that this operation can only be performed on a hot tool, and for this you need a rev counter. So, the adjustment of the carburetor of the Huskvarna chainsaw should be carried out only by specialists.
Note that first adjust the screw βLβ, then go to βHβ, and at the end go to the βTβ setting.
Adjust the speed
To get started, you will need to find the highest idle speed by turning valve βLβ clockwise or in the opposite direction. Once you have found the peak value of the revolutions, the screw must be turned out 1/4 counterclockwise. If after that the chain continues to rotate, then it is necessary to unscrew the screw βTβ counterclockwise.
As soon as the engine runs at full speed for at least 10 seconds, you need to unscrew the "N" 1/4 turn, moving it counterclockwise. Run the instrument again for at least ten seconds. Be sure to check the maximum speed!
If their number does not match the passport data, the adjustment should be repeated. In the case when you set too poor a mixture, the engine will βsquealβ. If the "food" is too rich, then greasy smoke will come from the muffler.
Thus, a modern chainsaw, the carburetor adjustment of which we have considered, is a rather complicated tool.
