Adventure fantasy is one of the branches of the popular literary fantasy genre. The action of the works written in this genre takes place in some fictional world where everything is subject to magic and sorcery. The plot is a description of the adventures that the main characters experience.
The characters of the adventure fantasy are representatives of the fantastic races - elves, gnomes, orcs and others. But the main characters are usually people. In many fantasy novels, one can find such a literary device as “cunning” - the transfer of a hero from the familiar world into a fantasy universe invented by the author.
A vivid representative of adventure fantasy - a series of novels by Joan Rowling about Harry Potter. Other writers also work in this genre. One of them is Leonid Kondratiev.
Author Biography
The future writer was born on August 2, 1979. After graduating from school, Leonid Kondratiev entered the Bryansk State Technical University, which he graduated in 2001.
Before writing, Kondratyev worked in the field of computer programming and IT: he was a system administrator. At the same time he taught at educational institutions, including at his university.
Leonid Kondratiev’s creative career began in 2009. At first, these were independent publications on online resources for writers (the Samizdat website), but a year later the publishing house Alfa-Knig published the first novel, “It’s not easy to win back an elf.” The debut book of Leonid Kondratiev laid the foundation for the cycle of novels of the same name about a man who fell into the body of an elf.
At present, 5 books are owned by the writer. The last one was released in 2015.

The main character is an ordinary person from the modern world. His hobby is role-playing game movement. The role-players choose a historical scene or fragment from a cult work and try to translate it into reality: they themselves create costumes and props, think over the script.
This time the hero gets the role of the dark elf. Everything should have passed as usual, and no one could have thought that he would actually turn into an elf, and even move into the past. As a result, the role-player who got used to the image falls into the midst of World War II - 1941. His task is to protect the homeland from invaders.

Another series of novels by Leonid Kondratiev is The Merchant, which consists of two books (The Merchant and The Seller of Kingdoms). The cycle was co-written with Vladimir Myasoed.
At the center of the story is a man named Olaf. He makes money by illegally selling weapons. Serious problems often arise in such a turbulent business, and after several unsuccessful transactions, Olaf believes that he is doomed: he is sought after by dissatisfied customers.
His salvation becomes a randomly activated family amulet, with the help of which Olaf enters a parallel world: magic exists in him. From this moment, the adventures of a former merchant begin.

The novel "Problems of a cosmic scale", which the author calls "a bit unusual fairy tale with a strange plot," was released in 2015.
The narration is in the first person. The hero says that he lives with four unusual girls: one of them is the princess of an alien empire, the other is an immortal witch, the third is a space pirate, the fourth is an experimental scientist. The novel tells the story of a meeting with each of them.
