Master class: how to make an origami owl

Origami craft, the owl, can be done in two ways. The first is simple, using one piece of paper. The second is more complex. As a result, you get an owl from the modules. We suggest you familiarize yourself with these two methods.

Single Leaf Square Owl

Master class, how to make an origami owl from one leaf:

origami owl

  1. Prepare a square leaflet and bend it diagonally two times (Figure 1).
  2. Flatten the paper.
  3. Wrap the upper corner one third of the half of the sheet (Figure 2).
  4. Turn the lower corner to the bent so that their tops are in contact (Figure 3).
  5. Wrap the right and left parts of the figure (Figure 4).
  6. Unscrew the corner of the inner triangle (Figure 5).
  7. Draw eyes and make plumage on the β€œwings” (Figure 6).

A very simple craft is ready!

  1. Fold the sheet of paper two times diagonally across the floors (Figure 1).
  2. Wrap the upper corner one half of the figure (picture 2).
  3. Turn the corner and fold it in half (picture 3).
  4. Turn the right and left side a few millimeters (picture 4).
  5. Turn the bottom corner so that it reaches the top triangle with its vertex (picture 5).
  6. Unscrew the small tip of the large triangle (picture 6).
  7. Connect the right corner with the fold in the center (Figure 7). Spread out the corner.
  8. Turn the right corner to the formed fold line (picture 8).
  9. Turn the right side up again (picture 9).
  10. Flip the figure to the back (Figure 10).
  11. Unscrew the right part (picture 11).
  12. Fold the left corner of the figure (picture 12).
  13. Wrap the half of the tucked-in detail (picture 13).
  14. Hide part of the figure (picture 14).
  15. Turn the craft over (picture 15).
  16. Gently wrap the right corner back (picture 16).
  17. Paint the craft, make plumage and muzzle.

We make modules for owl 3D

To make a voluminous owl in the origami technique, you need to prepare blanks called modules.

How to assemble a module (master class):

  1. Take a small piece of paper.
  2. Fold the sheet in half in length (Figure 1).
  3. Fold the rectangle in half again (Figure 2).
  4. Spread the figure.
  5. Wrap the right and left parts of the rectangle to the formed fold line (Figure 3).
  6. Turn over the part (Figure 4).
  7. Cut off the bottom edges.
  8. Fold the edges as shown in Figure 5.
  9. Fold the figure in half (Figure 6).

To create an owl using the modular origami technique, you need a lot of such blanks. You also need to consider what color your craft will be. Maybe you want to make it not monophonic and highlight the muzzle and tummy.

Owl: modular origami

Any such craft begins with the fact that the first row is going to:

  1. Lay the two modules in the same way as in picture 1. That is, they should be in contact with the sides.
  2. Put the third module on top of the two sides (picture 2).
  3. Add one more module down and put on the fifth one (picture 3).
  4. Gradually, you can do two rows of the basics of any origami craft (picture 4).
  5. When the row is finished, fasten the first and last blanks with the module (Figure 5).
  6. The next row is worn on the modules of the second (Figure 6).
  7. Then the craft turns over and all subsequent modules are put on top (picture 7).

That's how a modular owl is going.

Example

Where your imagination and possibilities lead, this will turn out to be an owl. Modular origami, the assembly scheme of which can be very simple or vice versa - very complex, gives unlimited opportunities for creativity.

For example, you can make such a craft - an owl with ears, as in the picture above. To do this, take only two colors to create modules. When creating the first two rows, already consider that your tummy will have a highlight. Therefore, first assemble several modules of color A, and then add color B. So, completely connect the figure resembling an egg. On the sides at the top at the end, attach a pair of models that will represent the ears. And cut out the eyes from the paper and glue it on the finished craft.

Take a look at the picture below.

As you can see, you can make a more complex owl, which will have a separate body and head. First you need to make modules of different colors. For example, black, white, brown, orange and red. Then collect the lower part of the owl - the body. Alternate modules by color. White is the tummy, brown is the plumage, and orange is the edge of the wings.

When the body is ready, you need to collect your head. Here you need to highlight the eyes with white and black modules, and make a beak out of three red ones. Then just put your head on the body. All! The modular craft is ready!

You can also make a 3D owl with spread wings. But this is more difficult work, since during assembly of the main part you need to make protrusions on the sides. They are then assembled from additional modules wings.
