Conflict Desert Storm 2 is a classic third-person shooter. Events will transfer the user to the military operations of the last century in the Persian Gulf. The game has a plot, which is composed of four parts. Most players and critics note the uniformity in gameplay, but fans of the shootings should like the project.
The first part of the plot
In Conflict Desert Storm 2, the plot begins in the location of Al-Hadar. The user acts as a special forces soldier of the regular American army. It is necessary to save the comrades from the Delta 2 squad. For this, a number of missions are provided for the destruction of anti-aircraft installations, rescue of hostages and similar tasks. The developers tried to make the action dynamic and convey the speed of hostilities in the twentieth century. When moving forward, you will have to defend against infantry fighting vehicles, air attacks from a helicopter and aircraft. There is also a mission to protect the site during the evacuation of fighters for some time.
The rest of the plot
The second mission in Conflict Desert Storm 2 takes place in stealth mode. A team of soldiers, including the player’s character, must destroy all enemy communications in order to interrupt broadcasting in the army of Saddam Hussein. The main condition is covert actions, you will have to apply all the knowledge in tactics to go further. The third mission is devoted to escape from captivity.
After an explosion in communications, the player is captured by tank troops and sent to Baghdad. There you will have to find a way to escape from prison, find weapons for yourself and not forget about your comrades. In the same mission, after the escape it will be necessary to destroy the warheads with toxic gas and prevent a chemical attack.
The last part and tasks in it are issued by the NATO commander in chief, who talks about secret weapons in Kuwait. In this mission, you will have to arrange a real war on the streets of the city, under the control of the player there will be a BMP and with it you will have to break through some obstacles at the end of the mission, in front of the scene with the port.
Gameplay
In the game Conflict Desert Storm 2, the total number of missions is 10, playing time is designed for several hours. The user will control an experienced commando and participate in various shootings. Three other members of the group will constantly go with you. They can be ordered to stay in place, defend or attack.
In addition, the tactical component is represented by the possibility of different methods of movement and shooting. The character can use slow dashes with bursts of fire with weapons with a silencer or fast throws with a breakthrough on enemy territory. The developers made many different types of weapons that existed and were used at the time of 2003. From the beginning of the mission, the character receives standard equipment, but can change it and look for different locations. For example, to destroy tanks, you will have to find the hidden RPGs and use them. The rest of the shooter resembles a classic genre project of the time.
Ratings and mods
Basically, the Conflict Desert Storm 2 project earned negative reviews from players and critics. Monotony was noted in all missions and battles, as well as minimal dynamism. This means that you should not expect something surprising from enemies controlled by artificial intelligence. Managing equipment in missions with infantry fighting vehicles is incredibly complex, and teamwork is empty due to poor interaction. All these aspects influenced the final score of 5 out of 10, although the game has its own audience of fans.
At the time of 2003 there were not a large number of shooters, and therefore users began to correct the situation through modifications. In Conflict Desert Storm 2, mods in large numbers touched on simplifying the management of the hero and especially the transport. Only a few of them came out, because even in the zero years the industry stepped forward, and soon more worthy projects appeared.
