Color Point Persian - cute and smart cat breed

Persian color-point breed was bred in artificial conditions. Two researchers from the UK and the USA decided to cross Persians with Siamese cats to get new pussies. It should be noted that the new breed inherited from its ancestors not only a striking appearance, but also a character. Today at color point exhibitions is a significant competition to the Persians.

Their story began in 1931 when Virginia Cobb and Clyde Killer decided to breed a new original breed. For this purpose, a Siamese cat and a purebred Persian of black color were chosen. Initially, the breeders did not succeed, since there were only black short-haired babies in the litter. Then they took a Persian black cat and mated it with a Siamese male. The result is the same as in the first case. Of both litters, Killer and Cobb selected the best representatives and crossed them among themselves.

Persian color-point breed has come a long and hard way before becoming the same as it is now. Only five years after the start of the experiment, breeders received a purebred cat. Then it took another eight years to improve and consolidate the color. Only in 1955 did the GCCF register such a breed as Persian color point. The best animals from the litter were constantly selected and crossed with purebred Persians of traditional colors.

The cat can be any color, the main thing is the presence of spots on the muzzle and paw pads. Most often there is a force point (dark brown marks), there is also a chocolate point (brown), blue point (blue), lilac point (lilac). The overall coat color should be light, reaching white. Many people choose the Persian color-point breed because of their attractive appearance and positive character. Such cats are very attached to humans, stand out with quick wit and curiosity, balanced, active and mobile. Animals are very sociable, prefer to be in the spotlight, participate in the thick of things, easily achieve their goal.

Persian color point is demanding in leaving. His long coat needs frequent bathing and daily combing. Cats favor such procedures, so they do not cause problems. In some cases, a darkening of the coat is observed. This mainly happens with old animals. If this happened to a young pet, then this is a big drawback. Genetics plays an important role in the darkening of wool, because the ancestor of this breed was a black Persian cat. Color Point may also change due to lower indoor temperatures. With frequent cooling, the ears, nose and tail darken first.

Since the color is thermally dependent, you should not allow the cat to lie on a cold floor or window sill, pluck or cut its integumentary hair. Of great importance is a balanced diet. If the animal eats well, receives all the necessary nutrients and microelements with food, then its coat will be thick and beautiful. To avoid darkening, vitamins containing sea grass should be discarded.
