After the end of World War II, the people of the USSR had to restore not only the destroyed cities, abandoned agriculture and industry, but also the sports movement. It is not surprising that the Chemist sports club was formed on the basis of the Voskresensky Chemical Plant - a city-forming enterprise. Like mushrooms after the rain, new sections appeared: football, volleyball, chess, athletics, city sports, swimming ... The physical education movement of the plant gradually gained momentum.
Ice Palace in Voskresensk: the beginning
Athletes regularly took part not only in city and industry, but also in regional competitions. The number of sports sections grew inexorably. Resurrectionists mastered cycling, basketball, diving. The walls of the complex nurtured champions not only of the Moscow region, but also of the USSR. The existence of the entire urban sports movement has always been inextricably linked with the Khimik hockey team, and she needed, if not her own ice palace, then at least a house. But getting permission and building your own sports palace in a provincial town in the sixties was not an easy task. After all, not every regional center could boast of such a structure. But the Sunday athletes were lucky, they got influential chefs, and a miracle happened - in September 1966 the Chemist Ice Palace was inaugurated. Voskresensk celebrated this event on the 25th, inviting the SKA Leningrad team to the ice for a duel. The fight ended in a draw - 3: 3.
New home - new champions
The ice cover of the arena has always been and remains the main wealth of the complex. For the first time, many eminent athletes, and not only hockey players, but also skaters, achieved success on this ice for skating. It was here that Oleg Protopopov and Lyudmila Belousova, the first pair of Russia who took the championship in pair skating and became the champion, periodically trained.
Here the Sunday “Chemist” came to success, having taken silver at the Union competitions. From here, I. Larionov, A. Chernykh, V. Kamensky, V. Kozlov, V. Zelepukin, as well as many other titled athletes, jumped out into the world of sports success.

What is the Ice Palace in Voskresensk today? In 2002-2003, the sports complex was overhauled and without problems can accept participants of the highest ranks for competitions and training. The ice arena is equipped with 4,500 seats, which is why not only sporting events are regularly held here, but also all kinds of youth forums, exhibitions, fairs, conferences. Occasionally, pop stars and circus artists come here from time to time.
It is also worth noting that in 1997 and 2000 the Ice Palace in Voskresensk was awarded for bringing up such hockey heroes as I. Larionov and V. Kozlov. The world-famous Stanley Cup, won by athletes as part of the Detroit Red Wings, was exhibited on its site.
Today on the basis of the Ice Palace in Voskresensk there are sections in eight areas, in which both adults and children are engaged.
