In 1996, the flag of the country was officially adopted. The width of the flag is 2 times shorter than its length. The canvas has a rectangular shape, which depicts 3 stripes. The upper strip is dark green, the middle is dark yellow, and the lower is bright red. In the middle of the flag is the emblem of the country - a blue circle with the emblem of the state. The emblem is made in yellow and has the appearance of a five-pointed star, from which the rays of the sun diverge. The choice of colors speaks of the indestructible unity of the peoples of the country and the desire for peace. The color scheme of the flag itself speaks of the heroism of the people (red color), development (green color) and hope for justice (yellow color).

Ethiopia Flag History

In the XIX century, the country of Ethiopia began to fight for its own centralization and independence. At the same time, national symbolism began to appear, and in 1897 the modern flag of Ethiopia was first raised as a symbol of victory over the Italian army that occupied Tigre. Ethiopia was also able to stop the advance of the British Empire. Unfortunately, Italy did not abandon attempts to seize Ethiopia, one of which was successful. But in 1941 England freed the state, and the flag of Ethiopia has since been decorated with a lion in a golden crown. Conflicts did not cease to shake the "black continent", which did not bypass Ethiopia. Therefore, coats of arms often replaced each other. In 1975, a flying bird was put on the flag against the background of the sun. A blue disc was framed by green branches woven into a wreath. Soon the period of β€œred terror” began in the country and the symbolism changed - the rays of the sun and a five-pointed star appeared. In 1991, the pro-communist regime was overthrown, and the government returned to the previous version of the tricolor.
