Cole McGrath is the main protagonist of the inFamous game series ("Bad Reputation"), created by developers from the SuckerPunch Productions studio. Its appearance can be seen in the first two main parts of inFamous (1 and 2), as well as in an offshoot called Infamous: Festival of Blood ("Bad reputation: Blood Festival").
Biography
Cole McGrath's early life is not much mentioned in inFamous. It is known that once he dropped out of college, after which he began to work in the courier service. He himself explains this decision with a banal desire to annoy his parents. Most of Cole's life was spent in Empire City.
Even before the events that took place in the first part of inFamous, McGrath traveled to New Marais, where he spent several years learning how to parkour. Later, the acquired skills came in handy for him in finding a job in Empire City. The closest people to himself Cole considers his ex-girlfriend Trish Daily and his best friend Zika Dunbar.
The story of the hero in inFamous and inFamous 2
After the Ray Sphere bomb exploded, many locals tried to get out of the city and go through the quarantine zone. However, the authorities did not support this idea and gave the order to shoot to kill. As a result, only Cole McGrath and Zeke Dunbar managed to survive. As a result of the explosion, Cole received superpower, which allowed him to take control of electricity.
Later, Cole contacts the FBI and goes on the wanted list for a certain John, who infiltrated a group called Second Sons ("Second Sons"). The hero begins to fight against the Reaper faction to get more information about the Second Sons, but the first attempt is unsuccessful. As you progress through the game, Cole McGrath will be in Woren, on the second island, where another faction, who calls himself the Scavengers, is in charge. There, Cole manages to find John, and with it the Ray Sphere, which then still falls into the hands of the Second Sons.
The final game takes place in the Old City, where the massive explosion occurred. This is where Cole’s last fight with Kesler, the new leader of the Second Sons, takes place, during which John and McGrath’s ex-girlfriend, Trish, die. The ending of the first part of inFamous reveals a rather unexpected plot twist, so we will refrain from further spoilers.
The sequel to "Bad reputation" was not long in coming and appeared in 2011. The plot of inFamous 2 is a direct continuation of the events of the first inFamous. Several important additions appeared in the game - this is a new main location (the city of New Marais) and new abilities for the main character. Now all the actions of Cole McGrath affect his karma, which can become both light and dark. The character’s light karma will add him the ability to control the ice, while the dark one will give the power of fire and some demonic abilities that pump out other people's energy.
In the final inFamous 2, you will have to make a choice that will ultimately affect the main ending (there are only two of them). Whether Cole becomes evil or remains good - only the player decides!
inFamous: Festival of Blood
The "Blood Festival" is an independent addition to the second part of inFamous, which does not require support for the main game. We again take control of our old acquaintance (of course, we are talking about Cole), who happens to be at a strange holiday, also known as "Bonfire Night".
At the beginning of the passage, Coles are attacked by vampires. They do this in order to use his blood to resurrect the Bloody Mary. Returning to the world of the living, Mary bites her victim and passes the vampire virus to her. Cole McGrath has only one night to deal with the one who converted him, otherwise he risks losing his human soul forever.
The Blood Festival gameplay revolves around the dark side of McGrath, his bad karma. Compared to inFamous 2, the character of the evil Cole from the expansion went through a detailed study, as a result of which he became a more independent character.
Appearances in Third-Party Projects
Soon, gamers had the opportunity to meet with Cole McGrath and outside the universe of "Bad reputation." In one of the additions to the Uncharted 2 game, special costumes were added, among which one could find prototypes of costumes of Cole and his friend Zeke. The same thing was demonstrated in the game Little Big Planet.
As a game character, McGrath appears in an exclusive fighting game for the PlayStation platform - StreetFighter X Tekken. In addition, the hero is also available for wagering in a crossover fighting game called PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, where players can take control of both the "bright" side of Cole and the "dark" side.
