Russian sundresses. Their history and types

Russian sarafans gained wide popularity in Russia in the XVII-XVII centuries. Previously, they were also considered an integral part of the wardrobe, even for men. Often it was possible to meet a husband and wife, dressed in sundresses. However, for a long time they belonged to the clothes of commoners and only during the reign of Catherine II became national clothes for women for all classes. For sewing, several types of fabrics were used :
