Since 2006, Russia began to issue a new type of passport - biometric. It does not provide the owner with any benefits, and passing control at the border is also not simplified. Its only advantage today is its validity period (it is issued for ten years) and saving time on registration at only a few airports. But, as expected, in the near future the possibilities of a new passport will become much wider. All basic data in the biometric passport are enclosed in a special microchip. It is located on a special plastic page and duplicates all the information printed in the document itself. Due to this, faking a biometric passport is impossible. But the passport has a new type and its minus. The process of registration is not much different from the previous procedure. You just pay the state fee, collect the necessary documents for a biometric passport and apply to the FMS. You will need to be required 2 photos and receipts for payment of state duty, as well as:
- application form certified by the employer or at the place of study, in 2 copies and its photocopy additionally;
- photocopy of a civil passport (personal installation data and registration or registration are required) and the passport itself;
- if earlier you were issued an old passport, then you will need photocopies of its turns
- employment record or a copy certified by the employer;
- for men aged 17 to 27 years, a military ID (ascribed) and a photocopy are required. If you are not fit for service, then a certificate from the military registration and enlistment office, certified by a round seal.

Stock up on documents proving that you really are the child’s parent or legal representative, and do not forget your own passport. Take 1 photo of the child in advance and pay the state fee. You will also need:
- a special application form for children, preferably certified at the place of study;
- birth certificate with his photocopy or, if your child is already 14 years old, his civil passport and a photocopy of a U-turn with personal data and registration (registration);
- old passport of the child, if he had one.
Documents for a biometric passport must be submitted personally, so it is preferable to choose a non-tourist season for a visit to the OFMS.
