Sowing seeds for seedlings

On household plots you can find plants that came to us from other countries, many of which in our conditions cannot bloom quickly and are therefore grown only through seedlings. Sowing seeds for seedlings should begin in March. In order for the plants to bloom magnificently, the seedlings must be strong and healthy, and in order to get such seedlings, you need first of all good seeds, appropriate soil and favorable conditions.

Sowing flower seeds for seedlings should begin with the preparation of the substrate, that is, it should be sufficiently loose, nutritious and retain moisture. It is best to buy the finished substrate in the store. But if you yourself will prepare the soil for seedlings, you need to observe certain proportions - two parts of humus, one part of sand and two parts of peat are taken on two parts of turfy land. Ordinary land from the garden will not work, as it may contain larvae of pests and pathogens of various diseases. The mixture must be well mixed and sieved. If the soil is acidic, chalk is added to it, and two days before sowing the seeds, the mixture is shed with boiling water or a solution of potassium permanganate.

Sowing seeds for seedlings is best done in breathable containers having openings for the outflow of excess water. If the containers are old, rinse them thoroughly.
Seeds do not need to be deeply embedded, as it will be difficult for seedlings to break through the substrate, and seedlings will be rare. Seeds should not be sown too densely, because due to lack of light the seedlings will be too elongated.

To determine the seed placement depth, you need to multiply the seed by three. Some, too small seeds do not close at all, but after moistening the earth with a spray bottle, it is better to put a plastic film or glass on top and put it on a window for germination. Caring for seedlings will come down to airing and watering.

If the seeds are small, they need to be planted randomly, and large seeds in nests, 2-3 each. In order not to end up with empty pots before sowing seeds for seedlings, you need to check their germination. If germination is high, seeds are rarely sown, and if weak, it is thicker. Some gardeners mix fine seeds with sand for more even sowing. The timing of sowing seeds for seedlings depends on the type of plant and the place of planting, as well as on the climate. Annuals are usually sown in spring, and biennials in summer. Perennials can be sown both in summer and in autumn.

For germination and growth, seeds need light and heat. It is necessary to ensure that the soil does not dry out and regularly water the seedlings. To do this, it is convenient to spray the seedlings with warm water from the spray gun. After 2-3 weeks, seedlings can already be dived. In order not to damage the delicate roots, you need to use a dive peg. The root should be shortened by one third - this stimulates the branching of the root system. After the seedlings form additional roots, they begin to actively develop. The spaciousness that plants receive after a dive contributes to good seedling growth.

For a dive, you will need a special soil mixture, which has a not too light composition. It can be prepared from one part of humus and two parts of loamy soil. The right mix can also be found on store shelves.

If the soil is too light, it will quickly dry out and stick poorly to the roots during further plant transplantation. To seedlings better take root in a permanent place, it is better to dive seedlings in peat pots. Proper sowing of seeds for seedlings and good care of plants, including maintaining the temperature and light conditions - the guarantee that the seedlings will turn out to be strong and healthy and all summer will delight your eyes with lush flowering ...
