Riga International Airport is the largest air harbor not only in Latvia, but throughout the Baltic states. Built in 1973, it was reconstructed and is now a modern international-class airport that meets all the requirements of both safety and passenger comfort.
In 2005, Riga Airport was named the best among the airports in Europe, with an annual passenger flow of 1 to 5 million people.
A 3200 m long runway receives and sends flights from numerous airlines such as AirBaltic, SmartLinks, Etair, Aeroflot, Ryanair, Turkish Airlines, etc., in 31 directions of the world . The airport serves almost all types of aircraft, including cargo.

How to get to Riga
The international airport of the Latvian capital is located 13 km from the city in a south-westerly direction. There are various ways to get to Riga Airport or, conversely, to the city center: by bus, taxi or personal vehicle.
Buses
Exits to public transport boarding areas are located at each terminal.
By city bus route number 22, you can reach the railway station in the capital in about 40 minutes. Buses run at intervals of 10 minutes to half an hour; on weekends, as a rule, the interval is longer. If the ticket is purchased from the driver, then its cost is 2 €. In the arrivals area there are special vending machines for selling bus tickets or you can also buy a ticket at a newsstand. In such cases, its cost will be 1.15 €, and when buying a ticket for a day it will cost 5 €. Buses leave for the route at 5:40, the last flight is from the airport at 23:30.
The bus stop is located at the parking lot P1 (opposite the exit from the airport terminal).
Minibuses No. 222 and 241 will take their passengers from the same stop to the center of Riga with increased comfort. The trip lasts no more than 30 minutes, the interval of movement is from 10 to 15 minutes. The beginning of the movement is at 6:28, the completion of the work is at 21:30. The cost of tickets and the place of purchase are the same as the city route number 22. You can pay by credit card for ticket number 222.

Taxi
Taxi ranks are located in the arrivals areas of all terminals. A trip from the airport to the center will cost from 11 €, it should be borne in mind that waiting or a traffic jam is included in the additional payment (a minute costs 0.14 €). The duration of the trip will be 15-30 minutes, depending on the intensity of movement on the highway.
Transfer
The most convenient and fastest way to get from the airport to Riga is to transfer, which can be ordered in advance online (for example, KiwiTaxi). The driver is guaranteed to meet his passengers in the terminal with a nameplate in his hands. Among other things, one of the advantages of using a transfer is a fixed price for the trip, which is indicated when booking the transfer and will not change (for example, due to traffic jams or flight delays). The passenger independently chooses the vehicle he needs, taking into account individual characteristics (number of passengers, the presence of young children, type of vehicle, etc.).
You can order a transfer not only to Riga, but also to other cities (Daugavpils, Jurmala, Panevezys, etc.).
Personal vehicles
A convenient way to get to Riga Airport is by personal car. There are three parking lots at the airport:
- short term (P1);
- long term (P2);
- long term (P3).
All parking lots are paid. The cost of parking in a short-term parking lot is 1.5 € for a period of less than 30 minutes, a day will cost 28.50 €. One parking place in P2 costs 4 € per day, in the parking lot P3 - 3.5 € for every 24 hours.
Airport terminals
The airport in Riga has three passenger terminals, providing a capacity of more than 5,400,000 people per year.
Airport Terminals:
- Terminal A is intended for servicing flights to / from countries outside the Schengen area.
- Terminal B serves Schengen flights.
