Rabbit care at home

Caring for rabbits, which are kept as pets in apartments, is not difficult. In any case, all the troubles are justified by the positive emotions, the positive that these pets give their owners.

The rabbit’s body is designed in such a way that they need a large amount of oxygen to live. They are indifferent to the cold, they can withstand frosts of up to -20 degrees without problems, but they cannot stand overheating, dampness and drafts. They do not like the accumulations of harmful gases that form if the cell is not kept for a long time. The best conditions for rabbits can be called + 18-20 degrees temperature and 50 percent humidity.

Rabbits are very stressed. Any change in their life makes these animals nervous. Strong feelings can cause paralysis of the respiratory system and the death of pets, so you should treat them with care: feed and drink on time, adhere to the chosen diet, do not show obsessive attention to the nests with the cubs, and do not allow loud noises or flashes of light near the rabbit habitat. Care for rabbits should be carried out without sudden movements, loud screams.

The appearance of a pet in the house

Young rabbits are usually sold at the age of 6-7 weeks. Kids are even more shy than adults, so in the first days after purchase it is recommended not to touch them at all, providing only the most necessary care for rabbits: feeding and filling the drinkers. It is not worthwhile to pick up cubs, especially children, during this period, as well as letting them out for a walk around the room.

The first exits from the cage after the adaptation period are arranged for 20 minutes - half an hour, making sure that the animal does not gnaw anything beyond. Rabbits have a weakness for wires, so they must be hidden or removed from the territory of walking pets.

What specific care for rabbits will have to be carried out regularly depends on where the animals will be kept. There are only two options: in a cage or in the wild. Usually, only animals accustomed to the toilet are allowed to walk around the apartment unattended. By the way, rabbits are able to recognize a place for reference no worse than kittens, and just as quickly they get used to a tray with a filler. If the pets have to stay in an empty house for a long time, and no one can control their movement around the rooms during the day, then it is better to choose the cellular content.

So, what kind of rabbit care does he need regularly?

Wool Care

In wild animals, molting occurs once every six months and is tied to the seasons. Pets molt constantly, but not so noticeably. The easiest way to facilitate the process is to stroke the animal - it is both a benefit and a pleasure at the same time. Long-haired rabbits need to be scratched. To do this, combs, slickers and taps for cats and small dogs are suitable. Special conditioners will also help prevent wool from rolling. Animals walking on the street may need a flea remedy. There are special sprays for rodents, but drops for the withers intended for kittens are also suitable.

Teeth

Rabbit's teeth grow throughout life and grind constantly. Contributes to the process of feeding animals with branches and rough hay. When the balance is disturbed and the incisors begin to grow faster than they are erased, problems arise. The rabbit may die of hunger, because it will not be able to eat normally. In advanced cases, rabbit teeth have to be cropped.

Claws

Claws need to be trimmed. This procedure must be done regularly, every 5-7 weeks, and carefully so as not to touch the sensitive part. Use for this purpose claws or nail clippers.

If you start to care for rabbits at home in the right way, fluffy creatures will delight you with their presence for six or even nine years.
