Any person, speaking or recalling a summer cottage, immediately imagines not the easiest job with a shovel and then back pain accompanying it. Of course, there is a mass of agricultural equipment designed to facilitate work on the ground, but small plots and gardens as were the kingdom of shovels, they remain to this day. Really the human genius for so many centuries has not come up with anything that could facilitate the work of the gardener? It turns out invented. This is the Mole garden shovel. She, of course, does not dig herself, but is able to significantly facilitate and speed up the cultivation of the land. So, what is she and what are her virtues?
Design description
Shovel "Mole" is a simple structure consisting of forks on a long handle and attached to them with the help of hinges of a harrow. The principle of operation is also extremely simple. Pitch the forks into the soil, and then, using the handle as a lever, turn it out. The fingers of the forks pass through the teeth of the harrow, the soil raised by them is crushed, and the weeds are thrown out.
Minimal physical effort
After working with a shovel, the lower back always hurts. This is because you need to constantly raise and turn over a shovel filled with earth. All these manipulations are mainly performed at the expense of the back muscles. Moreover, it should be borne in mind that the handle is a long lever, and each time the back has to be lifted more than the ground weighs on a shovel. In turn, when working with the “Mole”, nothing needs to be raised. It works solely at the expense of a person’s body weight. We stick (helping with the foot) the pitchfork into the soil, and then we press the stalk with its weight - and he turns the pitchfork with the earth out. As you can see, almost no physical effort is required. A person gets tired less and, accordingly, works faster and with pleasure.
Efficiency
The mole shovel is two to three times more effective than a conventional garden shovel. First of all, this is achieved due to the large working surface of the tool. For each cycle of actions, an order of magnitude more land is cultivated than can be done with a bayonet shovel. In addition, dense soil is much weaker in resisting the thin fingers of the pitchfork than in the wide blade of a shovel. Add here the ease and speed of operation described above - and doubts that the Mole shovel allows you to process three hundred square meters of land in two hours will completely disappear.
Optimal depth
As it is known to experienced gardeners and gardeners, it is not advisable to turn over a soil layer with a depth of more than ten centimeters, since clay is often located below this layer, which, being on the surface, contributes to the rapid evaporation of moisture from the soil. Therefore, it is necessary to stick the shovel correctly at an angle, and not perpendicular to the ground, which complicates the already difficult work.
