Coat of arms of Kamchatka Krai and its administrative regions. Meaning, History

The Kamchatka Territory is an integral part of the Far East, which unites the Kamchatka Oblast and the Koryak Autonomous Okrug that joined later (in 2007). In the article we will consider the coat of arms of the Kamchatka Territory and its regions. We also find out what each symbol and color on this emblem means, who invented it and when.

What is a coat of arms?

The emblem of the Kamchatka Territory, like any other, is the main symbol, an emblem invented, which reflects the characteristics of the region, its historical and cultural roots, folk traditions, and geographical identity. The coat of arms of the country or its individual region is included in the State Heraldry Book, displayed on documents, flag, architectural buildings, objects, badges and coins.

Heraldry studies the features of each coat of arms, its origin, features. In the arms, each symbol depicted has a special meaning, there are no random objects. Nowadays, groups of artists and experts in the field of heraldry are working on the creation of the emblem of the state, its separate region or city, and competitions for the best emblem are held.

Since the Kamchatka Territory is a rather young entity, its coat of arms was approved only on February 10, 2010.

The history of the creation of the coat of arms

After the decision was made to create a union of the Kamchatka region and the Koryak Autonomous Okrug, the old symbols were used for the first time, but already in 2008 the task was set for specialists and a competition was announced, as a result of which the best project of the new coat of arms of the Kamchatka Territory was revealed.

At first, the commission selected the following figure: three black hills were painted on a silver shield, and a deer, also of silver color, stood in front of the central mountain. It seemed to combine the old symbols of the two parts of the union together. But after the commission liked the drawing and checked the heraldic examination, this project was rejected.

Specialists suggested that the artists use the old coat of arms of the Kamchatka region in 1851 as the main layout. In this competition, the project created by Ivan Tsarkov won.

The meaning of the symbolic image

The emblem of the Kamchatka Territory is a heraldic symbol of a quadrangular shape with rounded lower corners, with a pointed central extremity. The main color of the shield is silver. Three black hills are drawn in the center of the coat of arms. These are the magnificent volcanoes of Kamchatka. On their high peaks are eternal snows. On the coat of arms they are depicted as silvered. Since the hills are volcanoes, fiery streams of red-hot lava are knocked out of each peak. On the emblem we can see three images of red fire, and around them there is a thin silver rim, symbolizing the smoke of volcanoes.

Administrative districts of the Kamchatka Territory

Behind the volcanoes of Kamchatka, the sun is depicted. After all, the Far East is the land of the rising sun, there morning begins before all other regions of the country. The sun is surrounded by a national ornament, consisting of a strip of triangles of red and blue, touching the sides. This ornament has a silver border. Red triangles are turned outward by corners and are similar to rays of the sun. Blue, on the contrary, angles are directed inward.

The emblem below depicts a Pacific wave. The lower part of the quadrangular shield is blue, separating the volcanoes from the ocean with a silver wave strip.

This emblem is very similar to the coat of arms of the Kamchatka region in 1851. Emperor Nicholas I himself affirmed it. Only before the golden crown crowned the coat of arms.

Coat of arms and flag of Kamchatka Krai

As can be seen in the photo posted in the article above, the flag of the Kamchatka Territory has two primary colors - blue (the color of the ocean and the seas washing the peninsula) and white (the color of snow, which most of the year covers the land surface).

On a white background in the upper left corner is a symbol that repeats the coat of arms described above, only without a blue image of the ocean below. The hills with lights and smoke and the rising sun with a folk ornament around it are simply painted.

Area Emblems

The administrative regions of the Kamchatka Territory have different emblems, but all of them reflect the natural and geographical features of the region. Consider each district in brief:

  • Aleutian - the image has a gray and blue background, divided obliquely in the upper left corner. An eight-pointed star is drawn on the gray part. On the blue sea there is a kayak in which an Aleut sits with an oar and a spear aimed at the seal drawn below. All drawings on the background of the sea are depicted in gold.
  • Bystrinsky - the coat of arms is divided diagonally into two equal parts. In the center is a reindeer. The right, green triangle with two white Christmas trees symbolizes the taiga, and the left part, blue with two hills, is the tundra.
  • Elizovsky - the emblem is divided by a jagged white-red stripe in half. Below is a blue field, above is green. In the middle, a large golden bear holds a fish on its hands raised up.
  • Karaginsky - on the lower part, a thin strip of blue, a gray fish is drawn, on the upper, red part, there is a yellow bear with a small teddy bear in front.
