However, the MGB sanatorium (named after Dzerzhinsky) Miron Ivanovich designed, being a prisoner of the Sukhanovsky prison, where he was transferred from the camp near Komsomolsk. In 1944, the architect was sentenced to 10 years in prison (according to an anonymous denunciation).
When the top leaders of that time thought about building a sanatorium for MGB officers, they “remembered” about Merzhanov. The powerful Minister of State Security of Stalin V.S. Abakumov ordered to deliver the architect to Sukhanovskaya prison (Moscow). He was not even informed that he was a participant in the competition.
