Types of facades for the kitchen
Various materials are used to produce kitchen furniture. It can be wood, glass, MDF, particleboard, plastic, or a combination thereof. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages.
Depending on the design, the following types of facades for the kitchen are distinguished:
- Solid wood used for solid slab facades. Looks great on large areas. But it is demanding to care and is expensive.
- Frame facade, characterized by practicality and low cost. Consists of frame and panel. Thanks to this, several different materials can be combined.
- Frameless, made of a tempered piece of glass (triplex).
Wooden frame facades
There are a large number of options for materials from which you can produce frame facades. Production can be carried out from one material or a combination thereof.
At all times, wooden facades are widely used, which are relevant to this day. Such elements will delight natural beauty. They create a unique cosiness and warmth in the room. Most often used in classic styles.
A frame is made of an array of different types of wood. It can be pine, oak, maple and others. For the panel, both wood and other materials (MDF, plywood and others) are selected.
Benefits:
- environmental friendliness;
- security;
- solid and "expensive" appearance;
- practicality, tolerance of humidity and various temperatures;
- resistance to mechanical stress.
The disadvantages include the high cost and the drying process (swelling).
MDF frame facades
MDF - a plate made of wood fibers, pressed under high pressure and temperature. MDF parts differ in the following advantages:
- strength;
- functionality;
- practicality;
- environmental friendliness;
- Do not dry out and do not expand.
To obtain facades, MDF boards are lined with various methods. This can be staining, veneering, PVC film or plastic.
Painted facades
The painted frame facade made of MDF is different:
- a variety of colors and textures (matte, glossy, metallic and others);
- the possibility of manufacturing various forms (wave, arc and others);
- resistance to changes in temperature and humidity (for example, heated steam).
Among the shortcomings, one can single out the possibility of color burnout in the sun, susceptibility to mechanical damage, and difficulties in restoration. In addition, during operation, fingerprints from the touch of hands remain on such a surface.
Film facades
The frame facade made of MDF, covered with PVC film, is easy to manufacture. And, accordingly, the price for it is lower. The film is attached to the plate with special glue under the press. The main advantages of this type of element:
- affordable price;
- variety of colors, embossments and textures;
- resistance to chemical detergents;
- wear resistance;
- resistance to mechanical damage;
- ease of care.
This type has its drawbacks. It does not withstand high temperatures (at temperatures above 70 degrees, the film may peel off). Because of this, difficulties can arise during restoration.
Aluminum facades
Aluminum frame facades are most often made in combination with glass. But this is optional. Other excipients may be used.
Facades with aluminum frames have the following advantages:
- strength;
- resistance to moisture and temperature;
- wear resistance;
- long term of operation;
- metal can be painted in any color;
- the possibility of using various materials for filling.
Like all elements, this species has its drawbacks:
- mechanical damage is clearly visible;
- the impossibility of self-repair;
- only certain types of fasteners and handles are used for manufacturing.
The frame facade can be selected for any kitchen and at any cost. Even inexpensive items will delight the eye and last for more than one year.
