The Volga region in the minds of people is strongly associated with primordial Russia. On the banks of the great deep river there are many beautiful and interesting cities. One of them is Saratov - the economic, educational and cultural center of this region. This is a land with a rich history. The construction of the settlement began with the creation in 1590 of a watch fortress on the spot where the camp of the Golden Horde was located in the Middle Ages. Over time, the city developed and turned into an ever more comfortable. Nowadays there are a lot of green oases for relaxation with attractions and entertainment. These include Saratov Children's Park - Not very large, but very cozy and beloved by the townspeople.
Youth education
The idea of creating a park as a center for the younger generation, its cultural education, holding mass sports and entertainment events was born in the 30s of the turbulent past century. In those days of the active construction of communism, this was relevant. Saratov Children's Park is considered to be the day of foundation on August 6, 1936. For schoolchildren, it was a joyful and solemn event. About 5,000 children attended the opening, and by the evening, colorful fireworks were launched in honor of the holiday.
Soon, old alleys were planted with young trees. A football field, tennis courts, sports fields, an open-air cinema, a section for youngsters, a pond with waterfowl and fish appeared on the territory of the center. In winter, in the territory of the children's park of Saratov a ski station, an ice slide and two ice rinks worked.
Periods of decline and rebirth
This corner was not always as crowded as in the period of the 30s. In the post-war period, he lost active interest. And the period of decline came. The park existed and functioned, but people came there mainly for walks. True, children's clubs and some attractions continued to work. On the playgrounds were a swing and a slide in the form of a rocket.
Since the 70s, pleasant changes began to occur in this territory. A fountain called “Daisy” appeared in the park, especially pleasing visitors in the summer heat. At the same time, they updated and improved the field for playing football and playing sports. But soon new changes began, and not for the better.
During the period of public instability of the 90s, the park again experienced unpleasant times, but now it has regained its former attractiveness for old-timers and visitors. Today there is a sports city, playgrounds, shooting range, library, there is the opportunity to visit cafes and small restaurants. For some time now, cleanliness and comfort reign in this corner, there are plenty of green spaces in abundance. In winter, the football field is poured under the ice rink. An Olympic reserve school has been opened for young tennis fans.
Orthodox church
Until Soviet times, the place where the park for children was later laid out had a variety of purposes. For several centuries, the most common wasteland was located in this territory. But since 1879, Poltava Square settled in this unsightly place. A decade later, an Orthodox church was built there and about a thousand trees were planted around. But after the revolution, the church was demolished, because its appearance did not at all combine with the pioneer gatherings and the sounds of the horns.
With the revival of Orthodox traditions in the country between the city administration and the diocese, an agreement was reached on the construction of a new church in the territory of the Saratov Children's Park. The community of Vladimir Church officially appeared in 2005. And five years later, the lighting of the rebuilt building took place, where services began to be held. The now existing church was erected on a new project and is not a copy of the historic building. There are no four towers that in the old days adorned the huge dome of the old temple, but the new building has its own bell tower.
About Location
Saratov region has something to surprise visitors. Nine theaters, seven universities, five academies, military and civil institutes, and a seminary are actively operating in the city. The total number of local history, art, memorial museums of this cultural center is a total of several dozen. In the area of the children's park of Saratov, the oldest state university, named after N. G. Chernyshevsky, is located. This place is close enough to the train station. And for tourists who come on a trip along the Volga by boat, taking a taxi, you can get to the park in a quarter of an hour.
