Raspberries are the favorite berry culture of many gardeners. Its pleasantly sweet taste, healing properties are appreciated. It has long been known that it strengthens the immune system. But the term for eating fresh berries in the summer is short. How to extend it? To do this, take two separate sections in the garden, plant raspberry ordinary on one and repair raspberry will grow on the other. Cultivation and care are quite simple: fertile soil, watering, weeding and top dressing, mulching row spacing. But there are some features that are interesting to those who first began to breed such a culture as remont raspberries.
Care and growing
This differs from ordinary raspberries in that it is able to produce a crop 2 times a season. The first crop ripens on last year's shoots, and the second - on young grown this summer. Due to the fact that the second fruiting occurs at the end of summer or even in autumn, the berries often do not have time to ripen and fall under frost. Therefore, many people avoid such a culture as remont raspberries. Growing and caring in accordance with all the rules guarantee a good harvest. To do this, follow the simple rules. First, you need to choose a sunny warm place for planting - where the snow most quickly melts in the spring (it is best from the south side of the fence or buildings). Secondly, the site should be the most lighted in the garden. If shade is acceptable for ordinary raspberries, then even a slight shadow will delay the autumn fruiting of its closest relative, which is remont raspberry.
Cultivation and care in central Russia
Often in the middle lane, remont raspberries are grown as an annual crop with one autumn crop. To do this, after picking berries, all shoots are cut - both old and young. In the spring, immediately after the melting of the snow, all the power of the plants is spent on the growth of new shoots, which grow powerful, an abundance of flower buds is formed on them. The berries grow large and clean, fruiting the bush from August to snow. If simple raspberries are harvested every other day or every day, then this one will hold tight on the branches and look great even after a week.
Do not forget about the separate placement of landings, since a taller, simple raspberry can drown out the repair room. Cultivation and care are similar, but the first is more hygrophilous - water more often and plentifully.
Varieties
For the middle lane, the best-maturing varieties showed the best results: Indian Summer, Hercules, Reliable. In the south, you can grow varieties of later ripening - Zev, September, Lyulin, Heritej. With hot summers and warm autumn, these varieties fully realize their yield potential. For regions of Siberia, such varieties as Diamond, Apricot, Elegant, August Miracle, Dawn Evening have good results. Having planted a bush of raspberries in the repair spring, in August-September in the same year you will collect a good crop of delicious and large berries.
Reproduction of remont raspberries
One drawback is that most varieties have very few shoots and it is difficult to propagate such raspberries. To grow cuttings in the 3rd year after planting, from the center of the bush you need to cut all shoots in the form of a circle with a diameter of 15 cm. 10-20 shoots will develop from the roots remaining in the ground, which can be used for cultivation.
Raspberries can be propagated in spring with green cuttings. You need to choose those shoots that have an etiolated zone - the part that grew underground. The best shoots for cuttings are those in which the aerial part is not more than 5 cm and a powerful rosette of young leaves with a bronze or dark raspberry color. Such shoots are called "nettles."
Do not dig a stalk selected for rooting, but cut it with a sharp knife to a depth of 5 cm, carefully remove it from the ground. It is impossible to transport and store this planting material in water, you need to wrap it in a damp cloth and put it in a plastic bag. Harvesting such cuttings is done in the morning in cloudy or rainy weather. The rooting ground is a mixture of equal volumes of washed coarse sand and peat. A layer with a thickness of 10 cm is enough. Before planting, dust the bottom of the cuttings with charcoal dust. The landing site must be watered immediately. On top of the cuttings, pull the polyethylene onto the arcs. Cover with a newspaper or non-woven covering material to prevent overheating. Green cuttings take root in a maximum of 3 weeks. After 4 weeks, they are transplanted either to a permanent place or to containers.
Raspberries propagate and green root offspring - they are transplanted immediately to a permanent place or in the greenhouse, making a shadow over them for two weeks.
