You brought home a beautiful strong flower with bright green leaves and white charming flowers, transplanted it into an elegant ceramic pot and placed it on the windowsill, and after a while you noticed that spathiphyllum is not blooming. What is the problem?
It is not without reason that this flower was called "female happiness": it is also hardy, patient and able to forgive many mistakes in care, but a gross neglect of its needs leads to the death of the plant.
If you transplanted a flower in a pot too large, do not be surprised that spathiphyllum does not bloom. The roots of this plant should fully occupy the entire space of the bowl with the ground. Like many other indoor flowers, spathiphyllum blooms when the conditions of detention become extreme for him. A small pot space is one such condition for a healthy plant. Until the root system grows, do not wait for flowering. Therefore, it is better to choose a pot of a size that will fit the previous one closely.
If the leaves begin to turn yellow or black, this means that the roots are rotting. The plant needs to be transplanted urgently. But you need to do this correctly: choose a non-voluminous pot, buy “Home Doctor” land in a flower shop, provide good drainage (shells, pebbles, expanded clay), remove rotten roots very carefully, plant a flower, moisten the ground and spray the leaves with water. It is better to put the pot in a deep container with water for drainage so that the water does not touch the pot, but is always nearby. If the pot is in the pan without drainage, make sure that water does not accumulate there after watering. Moisture must be removed from the pallet. After transplantation, the plant can not be fed until completely rooted.
Sometimes the spathiphyllum does not bloom due to the lack of light, and sometimes it does not feel well because direct sunlight is directed at it. A draft is contraindicated for him. Overdrying, as well as overmoistening of the soil, is detrimental to the health of this native of the South American tropics.
It should be watered by spraying. Set in a well-lit place, but protect from the scorching sun. If the leaves droop, this is a signal that it is time to spray the flower abundantly. If even after watering the leaves of the spathiphyllum do not look elastic, then it is necessary to rearrange it in a room where the air humidity will be much higher. That is why this plant will feel best in a greenhouse or conservatory with a humid atmosphere.
Although the fact that spathiphyllum is easily propagated by children is widely known, the flower does not like when roots are separated by force: this causes spathiphyllum to slow growth or stop flowering. Wait until the baby is fully ripe, her spine is fully formed and the bush itself will separate from the mother. Such a sprout can be presented to a girlfriend, without risking harm to your flower. Otherwise, the plant will slow growth and stop flowering.
The reason why spathiphyllum does not bloom may be an improper wintering. If the flower stood next to a central heating battery all winter, you can’t count on plentiful flowering. During dormancy, it is better to rearrange the pot in a room where the temperature does not fall below 16 degrees, but at the same time the air will remain quite cool. A temperature of 16-20 degrees is optimal for a period of rest.
If you comply with all of the above conditions, and the spathiphyllum does not bloom, then it needs additional nutrition: during the growing season, do not forget about fertilizing the soil (1 time per week), however, as well as during the wintering period (1 time every three weeks). Top dressing is carried out with universal fertilizer or a special mixture for flowering plants. Fertilizer is diluted with settling water.
And even experienced housewives say that if you regularly cut old ripe inflorescences, new ones will form faster.
