Siberian roach, or fish chebak

Chebak fish, Amur ide, Siberian roach, and roach are the most used names. It is widespread in the rivers and lakes of Siberia and the Urals. Chebaku is indifferent to the scale of the reservoir. It can be a small rivulet or a huge reservoir. As a rule, in any body of water, the chebak fish prevails in number.

This species can be obtained in industrial volumes due to the rapid reproduction and growth. As a rule, this is a small fish up to 30 centimeters long and weighing up to 600 grams, but individual specimens can reach 3 kilograms. It is believed that a large chebak can be caught only at night, for example, on a lamprey larva. The rest of the day, only small and medium-sized individuals are caught. It feeds on larvae, algae, caviar of other fish, mollusks, higher plants and other organisms. Therefore, for fishermen this is easy prey, since a chebak bites both dough, and maggots, and worms, and greens, and flavorings, and bread. This fish, as a rule, is fried or dried, and a trifle goes to feed for poultry and cats. But many fishermen make of it a simple or triple ear right on the shore of a reservoir, on fire, in a bowler hat.

Chebak fish has an elongated body shape. Its color is often light with a greenish or bluish tint. The back is darker than the abdomen. Scales - large, silver, easily detached from the body. The fin on the back is tall, orange or red. On the upper part of the lining of the eyes is a small red spot - this is a hallmark. Chebak fish begins to spawn in late March or early April, depending on weather conditions, and ends in the first decade of May. Caviar is laid on rocky, vegetated bottom sections. One female can sweep up to 60,000 eggs, which are attached to the stems and leaves of underwater plants. Having completed spawning, schools of fish go to the deep places of the reservoir where they are fed. Eggs develop over a couple of weeks. At this time, larvae form in them, which reach the necessary phase of development and leave their house, rising to the surface of the water. There they eat intensely, turn into small fish, which by the fall reach up to 5 centimeters in length. Chebak is a fish that reaches puberty for a relatively long time - only in the third year of life. At this moment, its length is from 15 to 20 centimeters.

Lives in packs of fish Chebak. Taking photos is extremely simple, as these fish are not too shy. Flocks in the summer actively ply throughout the reservoir. But in June they beat themselves to shallow places - for feeding. This is the most effective time for fishermen. But already in July, the flocks begin to again actively move without a long connection to places. This process continues until the fall. When the first frosts come, the chebak begins to gradually move to the deep sections of the reservoir. In winter, the fish, like the whole family of cyprinids, almost freeze. Chebak ceases to even eat. This fish is not subject to winter fishing. In the spring, with the onset of heat, the chebak again enters the phase of activity, and the life cycle of the year repeats again.
