Description

The Zhiguli apple tree bears fruit in large (up to 250 g), flat-rounded yellowish-green fruits covered with an almost continuous red blush. Against its background, darker bands of different configurations are visible. The peel of the fruit is shiny and dense. In some apples, pronounced wide ribs are observed. The fruits are harvested in September. They reach consumer maturity a month after the harvest. Under favorable storage conditions, their presentation is maintained for 3 months. At optimal temperatures, the fruits do not lose their nutritional value until the end of January.

In winter, it is recommended to protect the trunk and lower branches of the tree from mice and hares. To do this, it will be enough to wrap them with roofing material or artificial burlap. This variety perfectly tolerates shaping and anti-aging pruning. The main disadvantage of this apple tree is the average winter hardiness, sometimes provoked by sunburn of the bark. This variety is most suitable for cultivation in the central regions of Russia.
Since this apple tree begins to bear fruit periodically in adulthood, it is recommended to regularly conduct anti-aging pruning and annual top dressing of trees with mineral and organic fertilizers. This variety is also responsive to regular watering in the driest season.
