During the passage of some games, I want to get to know the characters who play a key role. Authors and developers are trying to create a complete story that would fully reveal the character’s image, help explain his behavior and predict thoughts. So bright and full-fledged turned out the image of Nathaniel Garro.
about the project
Warhammer is a setting that was born thanks to employees from the Games Workshop in 1983. The virtual world is popular because it conveys gloomy realism. It is believed that the project is based on a culture similar to the times of the German Renaissance.
The developed setting now consists of Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000. The first project takes the player into the world of battles between great soldiers and powerful wizards. In the second case, the developers worked on science fiction that combines fantasy and science well.
The essence of the game
The Warhammer universe was originally designed for a board game. The "gameplay" had to be organized on a special surface on which the characters' figures were located.
On this battlefield, it was possible to conduct battles, but according to certain rules. First, it was necessary to discuss the cost of military force. Based on the total amount, each player could independently assemble his army. After you can start the game. In addition to the knowledge and skills of the participants, luck turned out to be an important factor, as players threw dice for any actions.
After the board game, computer projects and books began to appear. From there the name of Nathaniel Garro is known.
Character world
The overlooked hero belongs to the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Initially, this was the name of the board game that was developed by Games Workshop. They learned about the gloomy techno-fantasy world in 1987.
Conventionally, this universe can be called a continuation of Warhammer Fantasy. And, despite the changes that affected the new project, both have similar game mechanics and themes. In the summer of 2017, the 8th edition of the basic rules of this board game was released.
Computer games: graphics and plot
Based on this universe, a huge number of games have been developed since 1992. Space Hulk - 1993 project. This is one of the first games of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It seemed boring and simple to many, given that the board game had a rich history by that time.
Dawn of War is a major series that appeared in 2004. This project had many additions and parts. It turned out to be quite successful, but now it can not be popular because of the simple graphics and the usual plot.
In the second part of the strategy, they improved the mechanics, added many races, features of heroes and new artifacts. Thanks to the additions, you can see how much developers have worked on the graphics and gameplay.
A good shooter, a strategy with chess and mobile versions also appeared on the basis of the universe.
Book
But strangely enough, Nathaniel Garroe, if he appeared in games, is not as the main character. James Swallow, the author of Eisenstein’s Flight, who devoted a great deal of stories and novels to the universe, spoke more about him.
This work belongs to the genre of science fiction and to the multimedia setting of the project. It was first published in 2007, and appeared in Russia the next year. The product is a bonus product, so it may interest only fans of the universe and those who study the world of Warhammer.
History
The book on Nathaniel Garro takes the reader 10,000 years to the point where the Warhammer 40,000 setting begins. It belongs to the history of the Heresy of Horus - a major universal war that revived many disputes and conflicts.
Together with the work “Flight of Eisenstein” they also mention “The Galaxy on Fire”. Both books constitute a dilogy. Their connection is based on a turning point that occurred in the Imperium.
We are talking about the Death Guard and their frigate Eisenstein. The ship was given to Nathaniel Garro, the battle captain of the 7th company of the 14th legion. The author made this character an officer of the Legion of the Traitor, who remains faithful to the Emperor of Humanity.
The captain needs to get to Terra to tell his ruler about the crime.
Timeline of events: beginning
Nathaniel Garro was born on Terra. He remained loyal to his homeland and referred himself to the Twilight Raiders. He became members of the 14th Legion before the search for Barbarus.
Garro later witnessed legions and primarchs getting closer. The group included Garro's tribesmen, who eventually began to disappear and die. The size of the Legion was declining, and Nathaniel was worried about the time when the Twilight Raiders were forgotten forever.
After many battles, Garro was awarded the title of military captain, which he received from the hands of the Emperor.
New Horizons
In the Warhammer universe, Nathaniel Garro had a long, eventful and dangerous life. From the beginning, he had to take part in the Great Crusade. This event helped him make friends with the Astartes.
Towards the end of the campaign, Garro received many awards that he deserved in military campaigns. He managed to drink the Primarch's Cup and become an adviser to the military council.
Injury
On one of the Warhammer planets, Nathaniel Garro was supposed to fight against the rebels. It was on Isstvan that the captain received serious injuries. After this incident, Garro’s leg had to be replaced with a bionic prosthesis. Despite the new technologies, the captain felt uncomfortable. He was severely lame, and therefore the Legion's apothecaries removed him from battle along with his company.
Nathaniel ended up on the Eisenstein ship. Now he needed to carry out combat duty and observe the situation. In active battles, the company could not be because of its captain, so it remained to provide tactical support.
But later it turned out that the operation was in jeopardy, as a betrayal was being prepared. And if Garro had not been injured, remained with his comrades on the planet, could have been seriously injured or even killed.
Frigate Flight
In the Warhammer Universe, 40,000 found out about Nathaniel Garro thanks to James Swallow. His book talked about how, after betrayal, the captain decided to get to Terra.
During the flight of Eisenstein, Garro was waiting for many more unexpected turns. After he got rid of some traitors, another appeared on his way. As a result, the frigate was imprisoned in the universe. But he was soon freed by Dorn, who noticed an explosion and helped the captain.
Soon, Malkador ordered Nathaniel to find the seven Space Marines, who were also devoted to the Emperor. So the “Wandering Knights” appeared. But Garro’s journey was long and thorny. He had to go through a lot to gather these people and prove his loyalty to the Emperor.
The end of the story of Nathaniel takes the reader to Terra. The captain continues to search for Keeler, but meets Katanoa. She talks about the conspiracy of Harus. But their history leads to Malkador, who rejects betrayal and speaks of the struggle of mankind with chaos. Due to the fact that Katanoa knew a lot, she had to be eliminated, but in the end she became the curator of the Adept-Primus.
The search for Keeler ends successfully. Garro finds a woman and saves her from a murderer and a traitor spy.
