One of the authors working in the genre of science fiction is the Soviet and Russian writer Sergei Aleksandrovich Abramov. Under his name, several cycles, about 20 single novels and several dozen stories were published.

The future writer was born on April 10, 1944 in Moscow. His father, Alexander Ivanovich Abramov, was also a science fiction writer, co-authored by Sergei Alexandrovich wrote about ten works.
According to the official biography of Sergei Aleksandrovich Abramov, he received higher education at the Moscow Road Institute, graduating from the Civil Aviation Department. He took part in the construction of one of the four main airports in Moscow - Domodedovo.
For 20 years, from 1968 to 1988, Sergey Aleksandrovich Abramov worked as a journalist in such publications as Literary Newspaper, Pravda, Smena, and Theater. In 1988, he took over as editor-in-chief of his own newspaper, Family, whose new issues were published once a week.
Abramov is not only a writer and journalist, but also a public figure. Since 1997, he has been Deputy Chairman of the Telecommunications and Media Committee of the Moscow Government. Since 2000 - Deputy Head of the Main Department of Internal Policy of the Presidential Administration. In the period from 2001 to 2004, Sergey Aleksandrovich Abramov served as secretary of the Presidential Councils for culture and art, science, technology, education and sports.

Abramov's official debut as a writer took place in 1961. His first works were written in collaboration with his father and enjoyed great success among lovers of science fiction literature.
The early period of the work of Sergey Alexandrovich Abramov includes the novels “Horsemen from nowhere”, “Paradise without memory”, “Everything is permitted” and others. These are the classic representatives of their genre, published as part of the series "Library of adventure and science fiction."
Since the early 1970s, Sergei Abramov has been working alone. The first works written outside of a creative duet with his father were “Tightrope walkers”, “Teen Wolf for Gulliver”, “Big miracles in a small town”. Solo novels, novels and short stories of the author enjoyed much less success with readers.
Not all books by Sergei Alexandrovich Abramov can be described as science fiction works. The writer significantly departed from the canons of the direction in which he initially worked: in the novel “Silent angel flew”, in the novels “The Dead Don't Cry”, “Slow Fast Train” and other publications, you can notice elements of fantasy.

One of the first novels of Sergei Alexandrovich Abramov, called "Horsemen from Nowhere," laid the foundation for the trilogy of the same name.
The plot begins with the fact that unusual clouds of an uncharacteristic pink color appear in the sky above Antarctica. Although it is unlikely that they can be called clouds, because these strange clumps of unknown origin can cut ice peaks.
At the same time, all over the planet begin to detect doubles of people and phantom cities. Is this due to the appearance of pink clouds, if so, how, and what will happen next? To find out the answers to these questions, the world scientific community organizes an expedition to Antarctica.
Abramov’s debut solo novel Tightrope Walkers tells of a world where human dreams were taken under control. A registry of dreams allowed to be created has been created. However, some prefer to watch “forbidden” dreams. The protagonist of the novel meets one of these violators.
Tales
"New Aladdin" is a popular story by Abramov, co-written by him in 1967 with his father. Included in the collection "Shadow of the Emperor."
According to the plot, the main character of the work by the name of Ozersov finds an unusual bracelet, which turns out to be an ancient artifact. From this moment, the life of a rural school teacher is completely changing.
In 1980, the story "Above the Rainbow" was published, which later became the basis for the script of the eponymous Soviet feature film. The main character is a boy Alexander (Alik) Rainbow, who has problems with physical education, or rather - with high jumps. But once Rainbow had a strange dream, after which he suddenly became one of the best athletes in the school.
To a later period of Sergey Abramov’s work is the story “A Quiet Angel Passed”, describing the alternative reality in which Germany won the Second World War.
The stories
The story "Gamma of Time" (1967) tells of a meeting of a Russian physicist and a ghost in an old Scottish castle.
In the work “Very Great Depth” (1971), Abramov suggests that some intelligent life forms live in the ocean. The world becomes aware of their existence after the United States dumps its old stockpiles of chemical weapons into the ocean.
Writer Awards
In 1977, Sergey Alexandrovich Abramov was nominated for the Fant prize for the novel The Time of His Pupils, but did not become a laureate.
In 2001, the writer became the nominee for the Interpresscon Prize in the category Debut Book for the work My Place of Rest. There is no mistake: Abramov wrote this book together with his son, for whom “My Rest Place” became his debut.
In 2012, Sergei Abramov was awarded the RosCon Prize.
