To translate this idea into life, many efforts were made by Eleanor Roosevelt - an active public figure and by that time already the former first lady of the country. Thanks to her efforts in 1953, Teacher's Day was proclaimed a public holiday in the United States. Celebrating the event was decided in May, Friday the first full week of the month. Thus, the date of the celebration changed every year.

It’s easy to remember the number of teachers in our country congratulating now. The dates of international and domestic holidays since 1994 coincide. Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin, who headed the Russian Federation at that time, signed a decree on October 3, which he officially approved on October 5 as Teacher’s Day in Russia. The history of the national holiday

The history of professional competition began in 1989, when teachers of all republics of the USSR applied for the title of best teacher. Since 1992, the competition has become All-Russian. Talented teachers who have achieved the greatest success in their work experience go through three stages of competitions of varying complexity, proving their professional uniqueness and significance. Not only experienced, but also promising young teachers take part in the competition.
Teacher's Day in Russia is a significant and solemn event not only for those who accept congratulations - school teachers, teachers of various institutions at all levels of education. Pupils, students who have completed training adult working people express their gratitude and love to those who lead them to life or walked alongside them during some period of it.
