Ruberoid is very popular among consumers, despite the fact that a huge number of new waterproofing and roofing materials are now being produced. This is explained, at most, by the cheapness of roofing material and the simplicity of its installation. In addition, this material has simply remarkable performance characteristics.
Use roofing material for the roof of any building, for waterproofing protection of foundations, logs, beams, etc.
When did you start using roofing material?
This material began to be used in construction in the 17th century. Then the roofs were laid with special paper, which was then poured with hot tar. At the beginning of the twentieth century began to produce roofing material, created on the basis of bitumen mastics. At the moment, there are quite a few types of this roofing material. Basically, roofing material is divided into lining and roofing. In the production of the second type, thicker cardboard and coarse topping are used.
The process of manufacturing roofing material
The manufacturing technology of roofing material is very simple and consists in the following: a layer of roofing cardboard is pre-impregnated with soft oil bitumen, then a layer of refractory bitumen is applied to both sides of the resulting fabric. The upper part is sprinkled with sand.
The result is a fairly reliable
waterproofing material called roofing material. Roofing and lining roofing material can also vary in the thickness of the bitumen coating. Currently, the following types of material are produced:
- RCP-300, RPK-350. This roofing material is soft and can be used for both the upper and lower layers of the roofing.
- RPP-300. Lining type coating with dust, very fine dusting. It is used as the bottom layer of a soft roof.
- RKK-400. Thick ruberoid with coarse powder. It is used as the top layer of a soft roof.
- RCP-350U. This is identical to the RCP-300, but with a thicker bituminous application of roofing material. Views may have a thickness selected by the customer.
What else refers to roofing material?Roofing glassine and bituminous packaging paper are also considered roofing felt. The latter is used to wrap all kinds of nodes and parts. Pergamine is used to protect the roof as a lower, first layer of protective carpet. Roofing material, of which there are the most diverse types, is now presented in liquid form. It can be used in the same cases as normal. Apply it with brushes or a roller. After solidification, the liquid roofing material forms a continuous thick carpet, reliably protecting various surfaces from moisture.
Laying roofing material
Roofing material (species do not matter) is always laid on a dry, even base, previously primed with bitumen diluted in gasoline. Cloths are lapped with an overlap of about ten centimeters. Roofing material is glued to bitumen mastic. The most convenient to use is a self-adhesive ruberoid. Types of such material are protected on the underside by a film or cloth, which must be removed before installation.
Ruberoid is a fairly reliable, easy to install and transport material. This explains its many years of popularity with private homeowners.
