The capital of Russia has long been blamed for the poor ecology and the insufficient number of green recreation areas for citizens. The 850th anniversary park of Moscow was opened in 1997 in honor of the city’s anniversary. Near the entrance to the recreation area, you can see a commemorative stone engraved on the opening day.
The mayor of the capital, Yu. M. Luzhkov, participated in the ceremony. The park is located named after the 850th anniversary of Moscow in Maryino, along the embankment of the Moscow River. The recreation area covers an area of more than 800,000 square meters. The park has enough green spaces and landscaped paths, there are benches and gazebos for relaxing, in summer, beautiful flower beds are planted. Every year, by the beginning of the warm season, the recreation area is being transformed, new sculptures are being installed here, cafes and shopping stalls are being opened, and various entertainments are offered to guests.
Sights and Monuments
One of the most interesting objects that the 850th anniversary park of Moscow boasts is a sculptural composition dedicated to student signs. A monument was created based on the sketches of students of Moscow Architectural University. In the center of the composition is a coin with the denomination of “5 kopecks”, around it you can see the names of the largest universities in the capital. Nearby you can see the test book with the mark "excellent", made of bronze. Shoes complement the composition, in which five-kopek coins also lie.
