Most often, trips between cities within a country do not cause any particular problems. However, this time everything is completely wrong. Getting from Lugansk to Kiev is far from as easy as it might seem at first glance. The difficult situation in the region and the transport infrastructure damaged as a result of hostilities create a number of problems for passenger carriers.
Difficult environment
Previously, the road from Lugansk to Kiev did not present any difficulties. It was the most ordinary route, on which not only automobile transport, but also railway functioned properly. In addition, it was possible to use the Lugansk airport.
In 2014, due to well-known events, a real tragedy occurred for ordinary citizens, and it greatly complicated the life of even non-combatants. In a short time, Lugansk Airport and Donetsk Airport were completely destroyed. The possibility of air communication between Lugansk and Kiev has disappeared. However, there remained the possibility of safe movement by rail. The train went only 1, but it was. Such a simple and convenient method was also the most secure. The train was not inspected or stopped on the route. That was until the railway track was blown up. It is not known whether this was a sabotage or a random projectile, but passenger rail traffic ceased.
In just a few years, the transport infrastructure was destroyed and the issue of not comfortable, but at least safe movements between cities became very relevant.
Bad roads
Many people think they know what bad roads are. This is a mistake, because these people have not yet been in Lugansk. Driving through ordinary pits is relatively easy, but what if it’s not pits, but funnels from shells, completely unsuitable asphalt and a lot of metal fragments that can leave a car without a wheel? That is what the road from Lugansk to Kiev represents. Of course, only the Lugansk section of the canvas is damaged.
Moving along such a road is difficult. If there are a lot of cars, a traffic jam will inevitably form. But there are no fans to go around traffic jams on the sidelines. Also, it is better to refrain from getting off the road or visiting nearby bushes and undergrowths. All this space may be mined or there will simply be unexploded ordnance. Asphalt alone is relatively safe.
Precautionary measures
Before traveling by bus or private car, you need to carefully check things for the lack of Russian and any other symbols. There are several Ukrainian roadblocks along the route; there is also the possibility of searches and checks outside their borders. Life and personal safety are paramount. No one can predict how events will develop if a suspicious thing is discovered during an unscheduled search.
The best way
The simplest and most convenient vehicle for such a trip is the Lugansk-Kiev bus. Private carriers are well versed in the roads and know the safest route. Also, buses practically do not stop and do not inspect, because in most cases there is a formal agreement between the carrier and the roadblocks. A ticket is cheap, and all buses are most often comfortable. Some are even air-conditioned. It should be borne in mind that bus service is available only on quiet days, and the route may not be the shortest and take longer than usual. The driver chooses only the road where there is no danger of falling under unexpected shelling.
Distance
Between Lugansk and Kiev, the distance is about 830 km. Only the length of the roadway is taken into account. It is worth paying attention to the bus route, because many transport companies do not risk transporting passengers through roadblocks and have long established routes through the territory of Russia. In such cases, the trip will take much longer.
